The new Republican controlled Congress is already at odds with President Barack Obama on several issues. Newly elected Republican Senator Bill Cassidy says one bill he hopes gets to the President’s desk is legislation that would increase the revenue Louisiana would receive from royalties from drilling in the outer continental shelf and that money would go towards coastal restoration….

Although Republicans do have a majority in the Senate, they do not have enough votes to over ride a presidential veto.

The Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness is asking residents to please be alert of the cold, arctic weather that is currently moving through Louisiana. GOHSEP Director Kevin Davis says while no major impacts are expected from the freezing conditions, the state will be ready to address any potential problems…:

A federal judge has sentenced a Many man to more than 14 years in prison for selling methamphetamine. 28-year-old Jamal Holland pleaded guilty to selling 39 grams of meth to undercover agents in 2013. Holland was sentenced to 173 months in prison and three years of supervised release.
