Yesterday a Federal Appellate Court blocked the release of online schematics that would allow people with 3D printers, which are rapidly falling in price, to create operational firearms with ease. Senator John Kennedy disagrees with blocking the release, and says it’s your right to print the weapons.

Opponents, such as the Attorney Generals who sued to stop the release, say it would lead to a flood of untraceable, undetectable weapons on American streets. But Kennedy says there’s nothing wrong with possessing the firearms, as long as you meet the general legal criteria for all gun owners. He says enthusiasts looking to print the guns should keep something in mind.

The controversy has centered on the schematic’s release online, but it isn’t hard currently to find other operational gun schematics for 3D printers online if you look hard enough. Kennedy says the issue is much ado about nothing, and the opposition to 3D guns is politically motivated.

Emerge Louisiana, an organization dedicated to recruiting and training Democratic women to run for office, has announced it has seen nine of its alumnae qualify for the 2018 elections.  Spokesperson for the organization, Melanie Oubre, says they are seeing candidates that have completed the 70 hours of training run in a wide variety of races, including Tammy Savoie, who is running against Steve Scalise for US Congress.

Oubre says although the candidates may not have name recognition from being career politicians, they do have great cards to play for the campaign.

Oubre says there is a great demand to see women take action in politics.

A hit and run involving two vehicles in Monroe has a 59 year old woman dead.  The preliminary investigation revealed that Emma Crew of West Monroe was attempting to walk across Highway 165 when she was hit by the driver’s side mirror of a southbound Chrysler 300. LSP Senior Trooper Michael Reichardt…

Reichardt says Crew fell in the radio after being hit by the mirror of the first vehicle, but then took a second impact from a white truck that he says authorities are on the look out for.

Reichardt says as of right now, the first drive is not facing any charges, but the investigation is still underway.  As far as which vehicle caused the injuries that ultimately ended the pedestrian’s life…
