Secretary of State Tom Schedler says early voting turnout was so good for the December 6th runoff he’s optimistic we’ll see a 40-percent turnout Saturday. He says the heaviest early voting totals were in East Baton Rouge, Orleans and St. Tammany parishes…:

With a week of campaigning to go, US-Senate Mary Landrieu is claiming her opponent Congressman Bill Cassidy was paid by the state for work he didn’t do. She also says Congressmen are only allowed to make $26,000 a year in ourside work on top of their Washington salary…:

Cassidy says he’s proud of his work in the LSU System and these allegations are just an attempt to to salvage Landrieu’s career.

The 2014 Hurricane Season is over and forecasters were right when they predicted a quiet year. State Climatologist Barry Keim says there were only eight named storms, the fewest since 1997…:

This is the 9th year in a row we didn’t have a major hurricane hit the US Coastline which is the longest since such records were kept.

The Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s office says a woman from Marksville was found dead in her home early Sunday of an apparent stabbing. Deputies say they are looking for the victim’s husband, 48-year-old Dennis Williams as a person of interest in the death of 46-year-old Laura Williams.
