32-year-old Amethyst Baird Rathore of Monroe has pleaded guilty to attempted first degree murder of a police officer and three other charges in the January shooting of a state Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Agent. Rathore’s attorney has said she suffered a concussion prior to the shooting of agent Tyler Wheeler. Legal analyst Tim Meche says her attorney may use that defense at the sentencing hearing…:

Fourth District Attorney Steve Tew didn’t expect her plea, but will seek the longest sentence possible based on the fact she’s a habitual offender.

The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office reported two people were shot and killed last night in what appears to be a domestic incident. The names of the victims have not yet been released. The investigation is ongoing.

Tulane University has received a grant to reduce auto emissions from the chemical science company, SACHEM (Say-chem). Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Daniel Shantz (Sean-tz) says this grant will allow researchers to make materials for a diesel truck’s emission system to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions…:

Celebrity chef John Besh is stepping down “from all aspects of operations” of his restaurant group. Besh became the focus of a sexual harassment scandal following a Times-Picayune exposé of allegations throughout the Besh Restaurant Group. While Besh denied the allegations of workplace harassment, he did acknowledge an affair with a female employee, and said he was trying to repair the damage that affair did to his family.
