State Police say a Lafayette Police Officer was shot and killed by a subject at a convenience store. They say the cop was responding to a call of an aggravated assault with a gun just after 10pm last night, then there were reports of shots fired. The suspect fled the scene on foot and was apprehended by Lafayette PD a short time later near the scene, according to LSP.

One of two former Marksville City Marshals accused in the death of a 6-year-old and injuring of the child’s father has pleaded guilty to negligent homicide in the incident. Norris Greenhouse, Jr. is said to have taken a last-minute plea deal offered by the state Attorney General’s Office.
