East Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome says remarks suggesting the police ambush was justice for Alton Sterling do not reflect the views of her administration. Arthur “Silky Slim” Reed made this shocking statement at yesterday’s meeting of the Metro Council.

One teen is dead and another was injured after being struck by a suspected drunk driver while walking on LA 784 in Red River Parish. State Police say 19-year-old Lacy Ross sustained minor injuries, and 17-year-old Rachel Barnette was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver 47-year-old Kenneth Morse was charged in the incident.
