The Secretary of State’s office reports an increase of seven-thousand black registered voters prior to the October sixth deadline. This brings the total number of black voters to 919-thousand, which democrats see as a positive for Senator Mary Landrieu’s re-election efforts. But Political Analyst Bernie Pinsonat says the big question is how many of them will vote…:

Two-point-nine million people are registered to vote in the November fourth election.

The former mayor of Sorrento was arrested this morning on 40 counts of child porn and obstruction of justice for allegedly trying to delete images off his computer or get rid of it. The Attorney General’s office is investigating and Wilson Longanecker Jr. and says items were taken from his home after a several hour long search. The arrest came as the result of a joint investigation with State Police, Homeland Security and the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s office.

Assumption Deputies say a Morgan City convicted felon is back in jail after several drugs were found in his vehicle during a traffic stop. They say 58-year-old Gary Martin was stopped for failure to yield and no brake lights then after he gave deputies permission to search his vehicle and his home they found 4.2 grams of Crystal meth, several hits of heroin and Xanax. He was arrested on many charges and is being held pending $201,000 bond.
