A wet roadway following rain Sunday may have been a factor in a crash that claimed the life of an on-duty Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s deputy. State Police believe 26-year-old Deputy Justin Beard lost control of his patrol car on the slick highway when he slammed into an embankment. They say Beard was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
