The last of the final goodbyes to the three recently slain Baton Rouge Police officers took place today as Corporal Montrell Jackson is laid to rest. Michelle Southern reports..:

The Louisiana Department of Education says there’s been an increase in the number of high school students who achieved an ACT score that allows them to go to college. Just over 25-thousand high school seniors scored an 18 or higher, which is an increase of 68-hundred since 2012.

A father and his two sons drowned on the Sabine River near Merryville this past weekend. Beauregard Parish Sheriff Rick Mosely says the bodies of the both boys were pulled out of the river last night….

Mosely says a strong current pulled the two children under the water while they were swimming and the father died trying to rescue them.

House Transportation Chairman Kenny Havard expects legislation to be filed that will seek to raise the state’s gasoline tax to help pay for more roadway construction projects. Havard, who also sits on the newly-formed Transportation Taskforce, tolls and public-private patnerships are also being looked at…
