Governor John Bel Edwards is glad lawmakers passed enough tax bills that will spare higher education from receiving a cut in funding at the start of the fiscal year that begins July 1st. But the governor says he’s disappointed K-12 education will be reduced by 24 million dollars…

LSU President F King Alexander is concerned about legislation passed that will fully fund a student’s TOPS scholarship for the fall semester, but as of now, would only fund it at 42-percent for the spring semester. Alexander says it’s too difficult to get financial aid just for the second semester…

It’s possible the governor will do a line item veto, which would put TOPS back at 70% funded for both semesters.

The Bossier Parish Sheriff’s office is looking for a Shreveport woman who made false claims that a five-month old child was abused by her father. Lt. Bill Davis says 32-year-old Carrier Rivers started this bad rumor by telling the infant’s mother…
