Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand identifies the suspect in the fatal shooting of 50-year-old Deputy David Michel Jr, who was murdered Wednesday. 19-year-old Jerman Neveaux allegedly opened fire on the officer during a pedestrian stop. Normand says this is a sad, sad day…:

The maker of the ever-popular Gold Brick Egg is officially opening it’s new $40 million dollar expansion today in Ponchatoula. Elmer Chocolate president and CEO, Robert Nelson, says the technology inside this new facility is off the charts…:

The expansion is 70-thousand feet, bringing the total plant to 400-thousand square feet.

New regulations have been put on chemical plants by the federal government, and US Senator David Vitter says he co-sponsored the new law which as it will benefit Louisiana residents. He says the law gives the EPA the tools they need to properly test the industrial sites for any potential problems…:

Vitter says the law gives a reasonable set of regulations with a single handbook that our companies can follow to remain a world leader in innovation.
