Louisiana’s been dealing with near record high temperatures in some cases and the National Weather Service says the warm air is bringing in the next big storm system mid-weekend. Jason Hansford with the National Weather Service in Shreveport says it’s hard to believe we’re in December when you look at the forecast these days…:

Hansford says there is a risk for severe weather moving across the state starting Saturday evening in some areas then into Sunday with showers and thunderstorms increasing.

Governor-elect John Bel Edwards has officially resigned from Louisiana’s House of Representatives. The Amite Democrat has served House District 72 since 2007 and will be sworn in as governor on January 11th. Edwards says he’s resigning from the house in order to devote his full attention to the transition to the state’s highest office. He sent his resignation letter to House Speaker Chuck Kleckly today.

Crawfish season is underway and early reports say the mudbugs are bigger then normal and you can thank this weather. Emelie Gunn reports…:

Former Cleveland Cavalier and Tulane power forward John “Hot Rod” Williams has died. Williams was arrested in the infamous Tulane points-shaving scandal in 1985. Williams passed away from cancer at his home near Sorrento at the age of 53.
