The man accused in the shooting death of Shreveport Police Officer Thomas LaValley has pleaded not guilty to first degree murder. 27-year-old Grover Cannon entered his plea in state court Monday. LaValley was fatally shot while responding to a family dispute in August. Prosecutors have indicated that they will seek the death penalty against Cannon. Cannon’s next hearing is scheduled for December 21st.

The World Health Organization has announced that ham, sausage, and other processed meats could lead to colon, stomach, and other cancers. The WHO has classified processed meat as “carcinogenic to humans” and red meat as “probably carcinogenic”. LSU Health Sciences Center Registered Dietician Leigh Ann Burns says this report is in no way suggesting you need to become a vegetarian…
