Ohio Republican Congressman John Boehner has announced he will resign as Speaker of the House and leave his US House seat next month.  Minden Representative John Fleming says Boehner made the right decision because his leadership wasn’t effective. He says they’ll be looking for specific traits in the next speaker.

The historic O-K Allen Bridge, which connected Alexandria to Pineville for almost 80 years will be demolished on Saturday. DOTD Spokesperson Rodney Mallett says it’s hard to part with the old bridge but motorists will be thankful for the new Curtis-Coleman Memorial Bridge because of it’s perks.
