A Public Policy Polling survey on the governor’s race commissioned by the anti-David Vitter group Gumbo PAC shows that Democrat John Bel Edwards leads the field with 28% to the Republican US Senator’s 27%. The poll shows Vitter losing to Edwards by a 50 to 38 percent margin in a potential runoff.

The so called “Super Blood Moon” will accompany a lunar eclipse Sunday night. L-S-U Professor of Astronomy Brad Schaefer says this phenomenon won’t happen again until the year 2033. He says the moon will be 14 percent bigger and brighter than usual creating a deep red color…

A Larose man has been found guilty of second degree murder and first degree feticide in the death of a pregnant Terrytown woman last year. Authorities say 31-year-old Emilio Calderon was convicted of stabbing and strangling 23-year-old Katherine Martinez to death, which also resulted in the death of her unborn child. Sentencing is scheduled for October 7th, where Calderon will face a mandatory life sentence.
