Billy Cannon says “A Long, Long Run,” written by Charles deGravelles (dee-gra-velle), contains stories about his accomplishments on the field and his time in jail. He gave details on The Jim Engster Show about growing up in Baton Rouge and why he considered himself a “thug” during his time at Istrouma High…:

A state judge has held the City of New Orleans in contempt of court over their dispute with firefighters over back pay — even threatening Mayor Mitch Landrieu with house arrest. Landrieu says he will accept the sentence because the money the firefighters are asking would cripple the city and he plans to appeal…:

The firefighters claim the city owes them $75 million in back wages plus $67 million in interest.

Two boat ramps on the Red River in Caddo Parish have been re-opened in time for the Labor Day weekend. The ramps have been closed since the Red River flood event which began in May. Mark Woods, a Bossier City fisherman, says he’s ready to get back on the water…:
