The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Deville mother accused of filing a false kidnapping report. They say 24-year-old Ashley Ballard reported that four men knocked her down and kidnapped her 2-year-old child. Authorities say Ballard gave inconsistent statements leading them to determine the alleged kidnapping never took place. Ballard faces a misdemeanor charge of filing a false police report. Ballard’s children are currently with family members.

A statewide heat advisory for pets has been issued by the Humane Society of Louisiana after a dog fatality in Franklin Parish. Director Jeff Dorson says the dog wrapped itself around a pole and ultimately died of heat exhaustion and the owner, who was not present when officers arrived, will be charged with cruelty to animals…
