Employees and leaders at Zatarain’s in Gretna were on hand celebrating this week’s end of construction of the new company facility which is nearly triple in size. By the end of next year, the 80,000 square foot expansion will be online with new manufacturing lines packaging all of their Zatarain’s Cajun Creole products.

Gas prices are starting to go down once again. The American Automobile Association says the current statewide average for a gallon of regular is $2.53, down a nickel from this time last month. AAA fuel analyst Don Redman says this is not a nationwide trend and the West Coast is currently seeing prices go up by about 20 cents a gallon due to refinery and market issues. He says we’re not affected by this increase

Prices in the state are already about 90 cents lower than they were a year ago.

LSU Sports Information Director Michael Bonnette has confirmed reports that Tigers defensive tackle Travonte Valentine is no longer on the football team. The blue-chip recruit is reportedly taking his talents to Arizona Western Community College.
