A high-ranking Democrat in the legislature endorses former Navy fighter pilot Luke Mixon for U.S. Senate. Shreveport Representative Sam Jenkins is chairman of the House Democratic Caucus. He says Mixon has the “right stuff” to replace Senator John Kennedy…:

Jenkins says this is a personal endorsement; not one of his caucus. Also in the race, New Orleans non-profit head Syrita Steib and Baton Rouge activist Gary Chambers. Chambers says he believes HE can unseat Kennedy, based on the fact that over a half-million black voters voted for Kennedy in his last election…:

A Monroe woman is under arrest, after her 1-year-old toddler was left home alone Sunday, and later found wandering in the street. 22-year-old Aloria Dickson, who said she went to a friend’s house for “a little while.” She’s charged with criminal abandonment and more.
