Meanwhile, District FOUR Congressman Mike Johnson finished qualifying with no challenger. That means he is automatically re-elected to a 4th term in office. Garret Graces has two challengers. Clay Higgin SEVEN, Troy Carter one and Steve Scalise two.

 

Governor John Bel Edwards’ plan to send the most violent inmates from the troubled Bridge City Center for Youth to Angola state prison is coming under fire. The juvenile jail has had four violent escapes so far this year. Among critics of the plan is Loyola University professor of law Hector Linares who says it seems like a bad decision, and a possible violation of federal law…:

He thinks a better solution would be taking Bridge City’s LEAST violent kids to another juvenile facility.

A Port Allen woman and her two teenage kids were killed Friday in a plane crash in Colorado. Sandra Kirby, son Ian and daughter Amanda were sightseeing near Boulder, when their small aircraft went down. The teens attended Port Allen High and Sandra was a long-time staff member at LSU Biology Sciences. The crash is under investigation.

The media picks LSU to finish 5th in the SEC West this season; likely due to a new coach and uncertainty at starting quarterback.
