An alert fisherman on Whiskey Bay in Iberville Parish is credited with saving a man who fell over the side of Interstate 10; plummeting over 16 feet into the water below. The man had pulled over with car trouble and was checking it out when his vehicle was hit by a passing big rig. The collision tossed him over the railing. He was injured, but will be OK.

 

Gasoline prices shot up ANOTHER 15-cents-a-gallon yesterday; now at a statewide average of $3.63 for regular. Diesel fuel is already past $4. State Agriculture Commissioner Mike Strain says higher fuel cost for trucks translates into higher prices for groceries. He expects many Louisiana families will be forced to make adjustments…:

Strain says many may want to consider growing some of their own produce to help with food costs.

A Marrero state lawmaker wants to outlaw single use plastic bags at retail stores. Senator Patrick Connick says they make up a LOT of trash seen on highways and his bill would mandate stores no longer use them. He says reusable carryout bags are better…:
