New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell is asking all Mardi Gras krewes to be fully vaccinated before the 2022 carnival season. Is this an indicator that the good times will roll once again after no parades this year? Mardi Gras Guide publisher Arthur Hardy says it’s a formidable carrot to dangle for some 40-thousand krewe members.

The Army Corps of Engineers says they’ve received 40-thousand validated requests to install a blue tarp to cover up roofs damaged by Hurricane Ida. Lt. Colonel Robert Warren Green says they will install their 10-thousandth roof today and the deadline for the Blue Roof Program is fast approaching…

A flash fire at Westlake Chemical in southwest Louisiana injured five contract employees last night. State Police says two of the injured employees have been transferred to hospitals in Hammond and Lafayette. A plant spokesperson says the unit which produces ethylene was undergoing maintenance at the time of the explosion.
