5th District Congressman-elect Luke Letlow died yesterday at Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport due to complications related to COVID-19.

ULM Political Science Professor Joshua Stockley says Letlow’s loss is a major blow as he seemed to have a strong understanding of the issues plaguing one of the most impoverished Congressional Districts in the nation…

Letlow tested positive for the disease back on December 18th and was hospitalized a day later, recently needing to move into an ICU bed as his symptoms worsened. As of December 23rd Letlow appeared to be in stable condition and was receiving Remdesivir and steroids, but his condition reportedly worsened before he died yesterday evening from a cardiac event. Hospital officials say Letlow had no underlying health conditions.

In his senior year in high school, Luke Letlow was voted Most Likely to be President of the United States. Brooke Thorington has more from one of his classmates.
