Baton Rouge Police have arrested 37-year-old Denise Law in the beating death of 66-year-old Melinda Reed. Sargent Darran Ahmed says officers responded to a call of an unresponsive female Thursday afternoon, they believe a metal walker was used as the murder weapon.

Gaining an hour of sleep Sunday as standard time begins sounds like a win but sleep experts say the time shift in time can have unfavorable health effects on many people.  During standard time days become shorter. JMC Analytics Pollster John Couvillion says in the October primary, a sizable number of Black residents voted for Republican Jeff Landry in the governor’s race, so will that trend continue???

Four people have been arrested in connection with the death of 40-year-old Donovan Brooks in Bienville Parish. Sheriff John Ballance says they believe Brooks was killed in a gruesome dog attack.

Dog owners, 77-year-old Charlotte Hubbard, 22-year-old Shawn Hubbard are among those charged with negligent homicide.

The State Wildlife Commission officially adopts a Notice of Intent to permit a Black Bear Hunting season next December. LDWF Large Carnivore Program Manager John Hanks says the proposed season would be 16 days in northeast Louisiana and limited to ten tags

Four individuals have been arrested in connection with the death of 40-year-old Donovan Brooks in Bienville Parish. Sheriff John Ballance says they believe Brooks was killed in a gruesome dog attack. He says they seized 26 dogs from the home.

A Black Bear hunting is set to return to Louisiana December 2024. LDWF Large Carnivore Program Manager John Hanks says it will be limited 16 days and ten tags. The limit of ten was chosen with the belief that if those killed were all female it would not destabilize the state’s Black Bear population.

Don’t forget to set your clocks back an hour tomorrow night. Daylight Saving time ends and standard times begins until March 10th. Healthcare providers say the time change of gaining an hour tends to be easier on the body in the fall verses losing an hour in the spring. Polls open at 8:30 am and close at 6 pm until Saturday, November 11th, except for Sunday or next Friday which will be a state holiday because of Veterans Day. John Tobler with the Secretary of State’s office says every person in the state – no matter what parish has something on their ballot.

Brooks’s remains were found on the property of the owners last Friday. Dog owners, 77-year-old Charlotte Hubbard, 22-year-old Shawn Hubbard, and 51-year-old Gerald Miller face negligent homicide and obstruction charges. 21-year-old Cameron Kelly is charged with accessory after the fact.

Baton Rouge-based Marucci Sports has been sold to Fox Factory Holding Corporation, which is a parent company of Fox for 572-million dollars. Marucci is a bat supplier for Major League Baseball. They also manufacturer sports apparel. The deal is expected to close later this month and the money will be used to pay down debt.

The state has broken ground on a new 100-million dollar State Police Crime Lab in Baton Rouge. The state-of-the-art facility will replace the existing lab that’s four decades old. L-S-P Colonel Lamar Davis says a new facility is needed to help in crime fighting……
