In an interview on ESPN, Iowa superstar guard Caitlin Clark said she has no ill feelings toward LSU’s Angel Reese and believes she doesn’t deserve criticism for any actions from Sunday’s game. Reese was called a poor sport among other things for giving the “You Can’t See Me Hand Gesture” and pointing to her ring finger in the final moments of the national championship game.

Two siblings have been arrested in the death of their elderly mother in Rapides Parish. 88-year-old Ethel Glynn who died on March 21 lived with her sons – 66-year-old James McCoy and 56-year-old Kevin Glynn at a home on Galway Street in Boyce. Assistant Chief of Police, Linwood Banks says this is an unfortunate situation for the family.

Representative Barry Ivey has filed legislation that would require high school students to receive instruction on the importance of being an organ donor. Ivey says his bill would require public and charter school students to get at least 30 minutes of classroom instruction. The Republican lawmaker says the instruction would be done with the cooperation of private organ donation entities, like the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency…:

The LSU women’s basketball team returned home to celebrate its national championship win over Iowa yesterday. LSU hosted a celebration yesterday afternoon and Coach Kim Mulkey is looking forward to a parade and another celebration in the P-MAC tomorrow night…

The Pelicans will host the Kings tonight in the second of their 5-game home stand. After a big win over the Clippers Saturday, the Pels are tied with the Lakers at 8th in the West with 4 games left in the season just half a game behind the Clippers and Warriors in 5th and 6th. New Orleans can clinch a spot in the play-in tournament with a win tonight. The Pels are 3.5-point home favorites without Jose Alvarado and Zion Williamson, and Kings guard Malik Monk is listed as questionable. Tip-off is at 7:00

Zion has progressed to participating in low-intensity 3-on-3 with coaches but hasn’t been cleared for 5-on-5 or full contact scrimmages. An official update from the team is expected tomorrow after another re-evaluation

Congressman Troy Carter supports the LSU Lady Tigers are the indisputable winners of the championship and Iowa should not have to accompany them on their visit.  First Lady Jill Biden stated she would tell President Biden to invite the Iowa women’s team because they played a good game. Carter says her remark was an unintentional slight to the ladies of LSU.

Biden later retracted her statement but President Biden said in a tweet that he looks forward to seeing LSU and UCONN men’s basketball champion at the White House.

A bill that would allow public schools to have armed protection officers on site has been filed by an Ascension lawmaker. The bill is in response to the number of mass shootings nationwide. Gonzales Senator Eddie Lambert says this is not a mandate.

Lambert’s bill will come up when the legislature convenes next week. He says he sees no good reason to oppose it.

Gonzales Senator Eddie Lambert proposed a bill that would authorize public schools to have armed protection officers on campus. The bill is in response to the continuing school shooting incidents nationwide. Lambert says the bill would allow for off-duty officers to serve as school protection officers, but also would permit school faculty and staff to conceal provided they get the proper Peace Officer Standards & Training (POST) certification …:

An Ascension Parish lawmaker’s bill for the legislative session that starts Monday would authorize public schools to have a trained, armed protection officer on campus. The bill is in response to school shooting incidents nationwide. Gonzales Senator Eddie Lambert says, under his bill, schools could have someone with a concealed firearm on hand at all times…:

Lambert says the bill would allow for off-duty LEO’s to serve as school protection officers, but also would permit faculty and staff members – provided they get the necessary Peace Officer Standards & Training (POST) certification annually…:

New Orleans Congressman Troy Carter believes LSU Women’s Basketball team should enjoy their historic visit to the White House solo after winning the 2023 NCAA Basketball championship – opposite of First Lady Jill Biden’s opinion that the Iowa women’s team should join them on the trip. Carter says if everyone gets to partake in such an amazing celebratory gesture it diminishes the value of the trip.

John F. Kennedy was the first president to welcome the first NCAA champion to visit the White House in 1976 and U.S. national and major college teams currently visit the White House each year.  Carter says he does not believe there was ill intent on the First Lady’s behalf.

Biden’s comments sparked backlash across the country and from several LSU team players. LSU star Angel Reese tweeted a link to Jill Biden’s remark and responded by saying “A JOKE”. The Louisiana lawmaker says respectfully – the Lady Tigers deserve to enjoy the victory lap alone.

White House Press Secretary released a statement saying the First Lady’s comments were intended to applaud the women athletes and the historic game. President Joe Biden said on Twitter that he looks forward to seeing LSU and men’s basketball champions, the UCONN Huskies at the White House.

Detectives learned that Glynn was treated in the Wound Care Division of Rapides Regional Medical Center before her death and obtained photos that showed bed sore, dried blood, severe abrasions, and areas of rotting flesh. Banks says a search warrant was issued for the home on Galway Street to observe and obtain photos of the residence where Glynn resided with her two sons and the home was not in livable condition.

22-year-old American Idol winner Laine Hardy has enrolled in a pretrial diversionary program through the East Baton Rouge District Attorney’s office for nonviolent offenders. Once completed Hardy will not be formally charged after being accused of hiding a recorder in his former girlfriend’s dorm room. Hardy was booked last April on one count of illegal wiretapping.

The NFL Network’s Ian Rapaport reports Tennessee Volunteers quarterback Hendon Hooker is visiting with the Saints today. Hooker threw for over three-thousand yards and completed nearly 70=percent of his passes last season, before an ACL injury late in the year. Hooker also threw 27 touchdown passes and two interceptions in 11 starts and could be avialable when the Saints pick with the 29th selection in the first round.

Jerry Arledge is stepping down as West Monroe High School’s head fooball coach. Arledge has been on West Monroe’s sidelines for 31 seasons and was the defensive coordinator when the school won eight state titles from 1992 to 2012. KNOE-TV Sports Director Aaron Dietrich says it’s the end of an era.

It’s National Distracted Driving Awareness month. Louisiana Highway Safety Commission Spokesperson Mark Lambert says in 2021 distracted drivers were involved in more than five-thousand accidents in which at least one person was injured or killed in Louisiana.

Lambert says drivers need to give their full attention to roadways.

A Bossier Parish lawmaker has, again this year, filed a bill to forbid classroom discussion of sexual preference or gender identity. Haughton Representative Dodie Horton’s bill would also prohibit teachers and school employees from discussing their own orientation with kids. She says she knows of an educator in Shreveport who does this…:

Northwood-Lena is the first high school to win titles on both girls’ and boys’ basketball teams in the same season. But sadly, Coach Alan Tinsley says expenses for team essentials over the season have left very little to pay for championship rings. The Rapides Parish coach is asking the community for donations.

The estimated cost of rings for 35 players and coaches is fourteen thousand dollars.

After inviting both women’s basketball teams to the White House, First Lady Jill Biden appears to be backtracking after receiving backlash on social media for inviting the Hawkeyes who lost to LSU 102-85. A statement this morning says Biden extended the extra invite because of far women have advanced in sports and that she looks forward to welcoming the Tigers. Several LSU players are not happy about Iowa’s invitation.

Bossier Parish Representative Dodie Horton has filed a bill to ban classroom discussion of sexual preference or gender identity. Jeff Palermo reports…:

In Prairieville, a 13-year-old Galvez Middle School student is facing video voyeurism charges after a camera, disguised as an ink pen, was located in the girl’s locker room last week.  Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Donovan Jackson says another student found the camera and reported it.

Jackson says the suspect confessed.

April is National Distracted Driving Awareness month and Louisiana distracted drivers are involved in at least 5,000 crashes a year.  But Louisiana Highway Safety Commission Spokesperson Mark Lambert believes distracted driving is underreported and drivers should consider the possible consequences before picking up their phone.
