The State Police says a Winnsboro man lost his life in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 17 just south of Epps in Richland Parish this morning. Troopers say 24-year-old Ryan Lee crossed the center line and smashed into a commercial truck. Lee was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say he was not buckled up.

Today, the U-S Supreme Court heard arguments on whether a 2014 Louisiana law should go into effect that requires abortion doctors to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals. A federal appeals court in New Orleans ruled in favor of the law. State Rep. Donna “Kathy” Edmonston, an Ascension Parish Republican, was arrested Tuesday and accused of driving while intoxicated after she rear-ended another vehicle in Baton Rouge. Edmonston, who works in Ascension public schools, won election to State House seat 88 last November. A breathalyzer test revealed her blood alcohol content was .143, significantly over the legal limit of .08.
