The hunt for the killer of a gay black teen who was found near a lake in Angie two weeks ago continues, and the killing has grabbed the attention of the Southern Poverty Law Center. 17-year-old Ja’Quarius Taylor was found shot in the head only an hour after being reported missing by his mother. Washington Parish Sheriff’s chief deputy Mike Haley says its their primary focus.

The U-S Attorney’s office indicted Matthews on three counts of intentional damage to religious property which is considered a hate crime and three counts of arson. Ciolino expects a plea deal will be reached, which will result in a significant sentence. But how much time is hard to figure

The Saints are going to court to keep the public from seeing hundreds of emails that team executives sent to the Archdiocese of New Orleans concerning the sexual abuse crisis involving their priests. Court documents allege the NFL franchise tried to help the diocese cover up the crimes, but the Saints released a statement today that their advice was to be open and transparent, making sure all law enforcement agencies were alerted.

The man accused of setting fire to three predominately black congregation churches in St. Landry Parish will have a change of plea hearing on February 10th. Holden Matthews previously pleaded not guilty to state and federal arson and hate crime charges. Ciolino says a plea deal will reduce Matthews’ federal sentence and keep him out of a state penitentiary…

A paper published by an LSU Marketing Professor shows companies can seriously influence the kind of food people purchase at restaurants and groceries by adjusting the level of background music or ambiance. While the music is self-explanatory, Professor Courtney Szocs says they had to get creative when testing the effects of ambient noise.
