Around 9:30 this morning, Jeff Davis Parish deputies responded to a 911 call at a home north of Lacassine, complaining of gunshots outside of the residence. Deputies and State Police arrived at the scene, finding a man who had been shot. The victim was airlifted and taken into surgery. The investigation continues.

With school out for Thanksgiving, Bossier Parish’s Sherriff Deputy School Resource Officer Dusty Crenshaw took to patrolling the streets instead of the halls this week. On Monday Crenshaw answered a call that a dog was running loose along Interstate 20. In the last year Crenshaw lost two of his own dogs and he knows the importance of reuniting the roaming pup with its rightful owner.

The dog was not microchipped and was turned over to a shelter. Crenshaw asked the shelter to call him first if no one claims the dog.

A Boy Scout leader, 49-year-old Randy Miller Jr. is charged with 500 counts of possession of child pornography according to Livingston parish authorities.  Legal analyst Franz Borghardt says the judge setting the bond at $50 million is likely to send a message that Miller will not be out for the holidays.

The boo birds are expected to be out in force tonight at the Smoothie King Center as Anthony Davis makes his return to New Orleans. This marks A-D’s first game back since he was traded in the offseason to the Lakers. Pels Guard Jrue Holiday hopes fans will show some respect.

ESPN reporter Ramona Shelburne issued an apology today after suggesting on a radio show in Los Angeles that racism is the reason New Orleans fans would boo Davis. Tip-off tonight is at 7 PM.

The Saints can clinch the N-F-C South with a victory over Atlanta tomorrow. Offensive lineman Andrus Peat and Terron Armstead have been declared out for the game. Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones is questionable with a shoulder injury.

Louisiana Tech football coach Skip Holtz is not saying if quarterback J’Mar Smith will start versus Texas-San Antonio on Saturday. Smith and junior receiver Adrian Hardy are eligible to play Saturday after serving a two-game suspension. The Bulldogs can win the Conference USA West if they win and UAB losses to North Texas. If Tech, UAB and Southern Miss all win, then computer rankings will determine a division champion.

And KATC-TV in Lafayette reports a plan to host three private school football championship games at Cajun Field has been derailed. That’s because there are no teams from the Lafayette area who can play in the Division Four title game.

Miller’s bond is set a $50 million. Borghardt says the judge likely set the bond at such a level to send a message that Miller will not be out for the holidays.

Last year, in total ten people were killed and over 700 injured on Louisiana roads.

Freeman stresses the importance of reducing distractions as driving alone is enough multitasking behind the wheel.

Freeman says the most important action people can take to protect themselves is buckling their seatbelts.

Cut 8 (07) “…of the year.”

Nationally, 291 people died in Thanksgiving weekend traffic crashes and about half of those were not wearing seat belts.

On Monday Crenshaw answered a call that a dog was running loose along Interstate 20. On his first drive of the area, he didn’t see the dog but he made a second pass and located the white and tan dog that was dragging a chain.

In the last year Crenshaw lost two of his own dogs and he knows the importance of reuniting the roaming pup with its rightful owner.

Crenshaw took the dog to a nearby vet to see if the dog was chipped but it wasn’t. He then dropped her off at Bossier City Animal Control so her rightful owner would have three days to claim her. Since he located the dog, he’s already been back to visit her and Crenshaw asked the shelter to call him first if no one claims the dog.

Bossier City Animal Control takes in an average of 40 to 50 dogs per month. They want to encourage you if you are thinking about getting a pet this holiday season to adopt before you shop.

Crenshaw dropped the dog off at Bossier City Animal Control so her rightful owner would have three days to claim her. According to AAA air travel will see the biggest increase in volume with a nearly 5% growth as 4.5 million will take to the skies.  AAA spokesperson Don Redman says those choosing to fly out of the newly-opened terminal of New Orleans should arrive two and half hours before their flight departs.

In Jackson Parish an early this morning accident has claimed the life of a Jonesboro man. State Troopers report that 40-year old Dustin Stanford was killed when his vehicle overturned off Highway 4. Stanford was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the car. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

LSU closes out the regular season by hosting Texas A-and-M

Tonight at the Smoothie King Center, Anthony Davis makes his return. It will be his first game back in New Orleans since the trade that sent him to the Los Angeles Lakers. Davis is not expected to receive a warm welcome when he’s introduced. The Pels are trying to snap a two-game losing streak Tip time is at 7:00.

The Saints can win the N-F-C South if they beat the Falcons tomorrow night. New Orleans is 9-and-2 on the season, four games ahead of Carolina, who the Black and Gold just beat 34-31.

Louisiana Tech can win the Conference USA Western Division if the Bulldogs beat U-T-S-A on Saturday and they’ll also need U-A-B- to lose to North Texas. If Tech, U-A-B and Southern Miss all win their final regular season game, the tie breaker will be determined by average computer ranking.

ULM can become bowl eligible if they upset U-L Lafayette on Saturday night in Cajun Field. Warhawks Coach Matt Viator says he hasn’t spent much time thinking about bowl possibilities…

Today is one of the busiest travel days of the year as AAA estimates more than 55-million people will travel 50 miles or more this Thanksgiving. Those of you choosing to fly the for the holiday, be prepared to practice patience, according to AAA’s Don Redman the area will see a 5% increase in air travel and if you are flying out of the newly-opened terminal in New Orleans get there early.

‘Tis the season for giving getting engaged and imagine if you found out you paid for a natural diamond but got a lab-created one instead for your intended. Gemologist Grant Mobley says natural diamonds are inherently valued because they are a finite product and they maintain and increase in value over time.  But Mobley compares a lab-grown diamond to a plasma TV that cost a grand a decade ago.
