Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at LSU Heath New Orleans Michele Many says it’s not surprising since Louisiana has one of the highest poverty rates in the country.

Many says the biggest reasons for divorce aside from money are infidelity and communication differences. She says the median household income in Louisiana is a little over 45-thousand dollars a year, over 10-thousand dollars lower than the national average.

32-year-old Amethyst Baird Rathore of Monroe has pleaded guilty to attempted first murder of a police officer and three other charges in the January shooting of a state Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Agent.  Rathore’s attorney has said she suffered a concussion prior to the shooting of agent Tyler Wheeler. Legal analyst Tim Meche says her attorney may use that defense at the sentencing hearing…

Fourth District Attorney Steve Tew didn’t expect her plea, but will seek the longest sentence possible based on the fact she’s a habitual offender. Meche expects Rathore to receive a lengthy sentence…

Rathore shot Wheeler four times during a traffic stop in Morehouse Parish on January 7th. Meche expects law enforcement will have a strong presence at sentencing hearing to make sure Rathore is punished appropriately.

Early in the morning on the day after the election, Edwards, who in his political career had never lost an election, came down from his hotel room at the New Orleans Monteleone to announce he was dropping out of the runoff.

Tulane University has received a grant to reduce auto emissions from the chemical science company, SACHEM(Say-chem). Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Daniel Shantz (Sean-tz) says this grant will allow researchers to make materials for a diesel truck’s emission system to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions. He says nitrogen oxide contributes to the production of acid rain.

 Shantz says their goal is to improve the performance of zeolite SSZ-39, which reduces the amount of chemicals released into the air. He says a driver wouldn’t want to replace a catalytic converter every 10-thousand miles and the same goes for this mechanism.

Shantz says currently, it’s hard for these catalysts to handle temperature increases from typical operating conditions. He says this part is a little more complex than what we see on every day cars.

Two children in Natchitoches were injured Sunday after they were hit by bullets.  Police say the three and five-year-olds were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.  The younger child was hit in the foot while the five-year-old sustained a shot in a calf.    Several nearby apartments and vehicles were damaged.  Suspects from the gunfight have been identified but no arrests have been made.

Feldman sent out a Tweet regarding the incident and said someone he was with had a prescription for medical marijuana out of California, but there no “street drugs” in the vehicle. Celebrity chef John Besh is stepping down “from all aspects of operations” of his restaurant group. Besh suddenly became the focus of a sexual harassment scandal following a Times-Picayune exposé of allegations throughout the Besh Restaurant Group. While Besh denied the allegations of workplace harassment, he did acknowledge an affair with a female employee, and said he was trying to repair the damage that affair did to his family. Today’s news comes after Harrah’s New Orleans Casino cut ties with Besh following sexual harassment allegations in the Besh Restaurant Group.

The news comes after Harrah’s New Orleans Casino announced it was cutting ties with Besh. The group includes 12 acclaimed eateries in and around New Orleans, and Besh has appeared in shows such as Top Chef and Iron Chef.
