A sea of red is expected tonight in the Smoothie King Center as the Pelicans host Golden State for game three of their best of seven series. New Orleans needs a win to get back in the series, as they are down two games to none. Every fan that enters the arena will receive a red Pelicans playoff T-Shirt. The game is a sell out and Tip-off is at 8:30.

The number one ranked baseball team in the country meets the second ranked team tonight in Baton Rouge as the Tigers host Texas A-and-M. Coach Paul Mainieri admits this isn’t your normal three-game series.

In college baseball last night…the Ragin Cajuns rallied back from a four-run deficit to beat Southern five to four. U-L Lafayette scored all of its runs in the fifth inning. The Cajuns have won 10 of their last 12.

Louisiana Tech has swept its season series with U-L-M by beating the Warhawks five to four. Taylor Love blasted a three-run homer in the seventh as the Bulldogs are now 19-and-19 on the season. The Warhawks fall to 20-and-21.

The Zurich Classic of New Orleans gets underway today today at the TPC in Louisiana. Justin Rose, who was a runner-up at the Masters, will tee-off from the 10th hole at 7:40 this morning. Former LSU Tigers David Toms and John Peterson begin their round this afternoon.

LSU basketball has received a signed national letter of intent from six-foot-four shooting guard Antonio Blakeney. The five-star guard from Orlando is ranked as the nation’s 14th best prospect according to ESPN.

The Saints will open the 2015 season against the Arizona Cardinals and then play their home opener on September 20th against the Tampa Bucs. The entire 16-game slate, with dates and times, has been released. NFL analyst Mike Detillier says the final month of the season shapes up well, as the Saints have home games against the Lions and Jaguars and visit Tampa and finish the season at Atlanta. He says that should allow New Orleans to make a strong playoff push….

The Saints and Pelicans have announced plans to make renovations to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and the Smoothie Kinger. The estimated cost is 40-million dollars. The project will focus on improving the fan experience, including new video boards, enhanced lighting and audio systems.

The hype is building for LSU’s baseball series against Texas A-and-M, which begins tomorrow night at Alex Box Stadium. The Tigers are ranked number one and the Aggies are ranked second. Jared Poche is scheduled to be the starting pitcher for the Tigers and each game of the series will be on television. ESPN-U on thursday, SEC Network Alternate channel on Friday and ESPN on Saturday.

In college basetball action tonight….Louisiana Tech hosts ULM. The Bulldogs beat Stephen F Austin nine to two yesterday, while the Warhawks lost to Southern Miss nine to three. And UL Lafayette, who beat Southeastern Louisiana last night, will host Southern tonight.

Tomorrow night is Game 3 of the Pelicans-Golden State Western Conference playoff series. Jrue Holiday, who missed Game two with a leg injury, is listed as day-to-day. The Warriors lead the series two games to none, but Game 3 is in New Orleans.

And Zurich Classic of New Orleans tees off tomorrow at the TPC of Louisiana in suburban New Orleans.

The Saints 2015 schedule is out and New Orleanswill have three primetime games this year, starting with a home game against the Dallas Cowboys on October fourth. In years past, the Saints had more primetime contests but NFL analyst Mike Detillier says three is still a good number considering the team went 7-and-9 last year…

The Saints other two primetime games are also at home. A Thursday night matchup against Atlanta on October 15th and a Monday night contest against Detroit on December 21st.

The Saints and Pelicans have announced plans to make 40 million dollars worth of renovations and enhancements to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and the Smoothie King Center. Tom Benson is committing 25 million dollars to the project, which will feature new video scoreboards in the Smoothie King Center and the Dome.

The number one ranked LSU baseball team blanked the Tulane Green Wave six to nothing last night. Nine pitchers combined on a one-hitter and Chris Chinea homered for the Tigers. LSU can now get ready for its match-up with second ranked Texas A-and-M on Thursday night. Coach Paul Mainieri says Jared Poche will start on the mound in game one.

In other action last night…the Ragin Cajuns ended Southeastern Louisiana’s four game winning streak by beating the Lions seven to two . McNeese State scored two runs in the ninth last night, but it wasn’t enough as the Cowboys lost to 22nd ranked Houston five to four. Southern Miss thumped ULM nine to three, Nicholls State doubled up Grambling four to two. Christian Correa had a two-run double for the Colonels and Louisiana Tech topped Stephen F Austin nine to two. The Bulldogs scored five runs in the first inning and Braden Bristo struck out a career-high nine hitters.

The Bulldogs are ULM tonight. First pitch is at six PM at Warhawk Field.

Louisiana Tech has announced that homecoming this season will be the North Texas game on November seventh.

24-7 Sports says LSU basketball has the top recruiting class in the nation. The Bayou Bengals were awarded that designation after receiving a signed letter of intent from Brandon Sampson, the top high school senior in the state of Louisiana. Previously LSU signed the nation’s number one player in Ben Simmons, five-star guard Antonio Blakeney, and Arizona transfer Craig Victor.

LSU pitchers gave up only one hit last night as the number one ranked Tigers blanked in-state rival Tulane 6-0. Freshman right-hander Austin Bain earned his first win for LSU last night while Patrick Duester was charged with the loss for the Green Wave. The Bayou Bengals now turn their focus to number two ranked Texas A&M who come to Baton Rouge for a three game series beginning Thursday night.

Louisiana Tech scored five first inning runs while cruising past Stephen F. Austin 9-2. The Bulldogs head to Monroe to take on rival ULM tonight at 6PM.

The Warhawks are looking to bounce back after losing to Southern Miss yesterday 9-3.

The 22nd ranked Houston Cougars squeaked by McNeese 5-4. The Cowboys now get ready for a three-game Southland Conference series against Nicholls which gets underway Friday night.

The Colonels will come into that series having won their last four after defeating Grambling 4-2.

And UL-Lafayette blew past Southeastern 7-2. The Ragin Cajuns now turn their attention to their weekend series against Texas-Arlington. The Lions look to bounce back when they take on Houston Baptist.

The Pelicans are back in New Orleans today, after losing last night to Golden State 97-87. Klay Thompson had 26 points to lead the way for the Warriors, while Stephen Curry had 22 points and six assists as Golden State overcame a 13-point first quarter deficit. Game three of the series is Thursday at the Smoothie King Center.

The NFL releases dates and times of the 2015 schedule tonight at 7 PM. New Orleans will play its divisional opponents twice, home and on the road. They’ll also host Dallas, the Giants, Jacksonsville, Tennessee and Detroit. The Saints will also go on the road to play Houston, Philadelphia, Washington, Indianapolis and Arizona. Based on records from last season, the Saints have the fifth easiest schedule in the NFL.

NASCAR fans are mourning the loss of Steve Byrnes. The longtime Fox Sports NASCAR broadcaster lost his battle with cancer today. He was 56-years-old.

The Pelicans trail their best of seven series with Golden State two games to nothing after losing to the Warriors 97-87 last night. New Orleans got off to a strong start and led by 11 points after one quarter. But Golden State shot 76-percent from the field in the second quarter to take a three point halftime lead. Klay Thompson finished with 26 points and Stephen Currey added 22 points. The Pelicans got another strong game from Anthony Davis, who had 26 points and 10 rebounds. Eric Gordon chipped in with 23 points. Game 3 is Thursday in New Orleans.

The Pelicans will look to even up their best of seven series with Golden State tonight. New Orleans dropped game one on Saturday as the Pels fell behind by 15 points in the first quarter and ended up losing 106-99 in front of a fired up crowd at Oracle Arena. Coach Monty Williams said today he believes the decibel level inside Golden State’s Arena may be illegal. Golden State has won 40 of its 42 home games this season.

Also, Pelican guards Tyreke Evans and Jrue Holiday are listed as questionable for tonight. Evans has a deep bone bruise in his left knee and Holiday is dealing with leg soreness. Both players are game-time decisions.

LSU is ranked number one in all six college baseball polls that were released today. The Tigers swept a doubleheader from Georgia on Saturday in a rain-shortened series. They host Tulane tomorrow night and then Texas A-and-M comes to Baton Rouge for a three-game series that begins Thursday.

It’s still unclear who will be LSU’s starting quarterback based on what happened in Saturday’s spring game. Anthony Jennings and Brandon Harris combined to throw for 420 yards and four touchdowns, but Coach Les Miles says both players can still get much better…

The Pelicans will look to even their best of seven series with Golden State tonight as they face the Warriors at Oracle Arena at 9:30. New Orleans found out quickly in Game 1 that can’t let the fans get in the game right away, as they got behind early in that one and could not catch up. Golden State hasn’t lost a home game since January 27th.

Louisiana’s Mr. Basketball…Brandon Sampson, has decided to sign with LSU. The six-foot-five Sampson originally planned to play at St. John’s, but changed his mind when there was a coaching change. Sampson helped guide Madison Prep to the Class One-A Championship this past year. LSU now has a top five recruiting class.

In the latest D-1-baseball-dot-com poll, LSU is ranked number one after winning two games over Georgia in a rain-shortened series. Texas A-and-M is ranked second after losing a series to Arkansas. The Aggies and Tigers will meet in Baton Rouge for a three-game series that begins Thursday.

The Saints begin their offseason training program today. It will consist mostly of weightlifting and conditioning. There will not be any on field work until a rookie minicamp May 15th to the 17th and organized team activities start May 26th. And the NFL has announced the 2015 schedule will be released tomorrow night.

During Saturday’s spring game in Tiger Stadium, LSU quarterbacks Anthony Jennings and Brandon Harris each put up big numbers, Malachi Dupre and Travin Dural each caught a couple of touchdown passes and Leonard Founette had 42 yards rushing on eight carries. LSU offensive coordinator Cam Cameron likes the direction the offense is heading…

Top ranked LSU took a double header from Georgia Saturday before Sunday’s game was cancelled due to weather. The Tigers improve to 34-6 overall and 12-5 in the SEC. LSU is now tied for first in the SEC West with Texas A&M who comes to Baton Rouge for a three game series this weekend. But first, the Tigers host Tulane tomorrow night.

In the Sun Belt, ULM took two of three from Arkansas Sate after Sunday’s 3-2 win. Anthony Herrera earned the win and tallied the winning hit for the Warhawks.

UL-Lafayette run ruled Texas State yesterday 13-3 in seven innings to claim that three game conference series. The Cajuns host Southeastern Louisiana tomorrow night.

In the Southland, Northwestern State won two out of three against Central Arkansas, UNO dropped two to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, and Southeastern Louisiana swept McNeese State. The Lions are in sole possession of first place in the conference.

And Louisiana Tech lost two of three to UAB.

The Pelicans and Golden State hook up for game two of their Western Conference playoff series tonight in Oakland. The Warriors lead the series 1 game to zero.

LSU Freshman Alex Lange is tonight’s starting pitcher as the Fighting Tigers visit the Georgia Bulldogs to begin a three-game SEC series. Lange didn’t pitch last weekend because of elbow tightness, but he’s been LSU’s best pitcher all season, posting a 6-0 record with a 1.39 ERA.

The Pelicans will face Golden State tomorrow afternoon in game one of their best of seven series. The game will be on national television as ABC is carrying Anthony Davis’ first ever playoff game, but A-D is not getting involved in all of the hype…

LSU holds its annual spring game tomorrow in Tiger Stadium. Fans will keep a close eye on the play of the two quarterbacks, Anthony Jennings and Brandon Harris. Coach Les Miles says both have improved during the spring and he’s looking for them to execute the offense. He’s also looking to see some depth emerge at many positions….
