LSU Athletic Director Joe Alleva told a Baton Rouge radio station today he believes its “comical” Tiger fans are already predicting who will replace Les Miles. He says it’s still early in the process. Alleva also says he hopes there will be a change in offensive play-calling for the remainder of this season and this is a great opportunity for Interim Head Coach Ed Orgeron to show if he can turn the program around.

Saints Quarterback Drew Brees has thrown for an NFL best 1,062 yards, however the Black and Gold are 0-3. But Brees still has high hopes for this season….

Brees and the Saints are in San Diego to take on the Chargers. That’s where the 37-year-old started his NFL career.

Louisiana Tech is 1-3 heading into Saturday’s home game against UTEP. Some fans in Bulldog nation would rather see redshirt freshman J’Mar Smith as the startering quarterback. But Coach Skip Holtz says Ryan Higgins is his guy, especially after throwing for 504 yards and three touchdowns last week at Middle Tennessee…

Higgins is just one of three Bulldog quarterbacks to throw for over 500 yards in a game.

Tonight’s NFL match-up has the Miami Dolphins at the Cinncinati Bengals. Former LSU Tiger Jeremy Hill is leading the Bengals in rushing, while the Dolphins leading pass catcher is another former Tiger,in Jarvis Landry.

There was a big crowd last night at Ed Orgeron’s first LSU radio call-in show. Oregeron confirmed Danny Etling will start on Saturday night against Missouri. Athletic Director Joe Alleva said on a Baton Rouge radio station this morning that he hopes to see different play calling and he’s leading the search for a new coach, but he says it’s comical to speculate who the next coach will be.

Alabama Senior linebacker Tim Williams, who played at University High in Baton Rouge, was arrested this morning and charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, which is a misdemeanor. Williams had 10.5 sacks last season and he’s considered a possible first round pick. Alabama hosts Kentucky this Saturday.

Also in the SEC this weekend, ULM travels to Auburn. It’s the 10th meeting between the two teams and Tigers have won the nine previous contests. The Warhawks are 32.5 point underdog.

After a two-game road trip, where Louisiana Tech lost both games, the Bulldogs are back home Saturday night to host UTEP. Tech Head Coach Skip Holtz says he’s glad to be back home…

Quarterback Drew Brees is returning to his first NFL home this Sunday as the Saints visit the San Diego Chargers. Brees left southern California after the 2005 season, because the Chargers decided to go with Phillip Rivers instead.

The Saints are banged up on the offensive line. Terron Armstead missed Monday’s game with a knee injury and Senior Kelemete has been battling a hamstring injury. That’s why New Orleans signed veteran offensive lineman Khalif Barnes, who played in 14 games for the Raiders last year.

The Saints seek their first win of the season this Sunday in San Diego where the Black and Gold take on Quarterback Drew Brees’ old team, the Chargers. Brees says it would be great if the team was rewarded for all of their hard work with a win….

2004 was the last time the Saints played at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego. Brees was the quarterback of the Chargers and he threw four touchdown passes that day in a 43-17 San Diego win.

In other Saints news…safety Kenny Vaccaro, who missed the Atlanta game with an injury, was limited in practice yesterday. New Orleans has signed veteran offensive lineman Khalif Barnes as o-linemen Terron Armstead and Senio Kelemente battle injuries and former Saints running back CJ Spiller has signed with Seattle.

LSU starting defensive end Davon Godchaux is back with the team as his suspension has been lifted. Godchaux was arrrested earlier this week after authorities said he had a tussle with his girlfriend at his apartment. Also, running back Leonard Fournette is a game time decision for Saturday’s contest versus Missouri because of an ankle injury.

Louisiana Tech hosts UTEP Saturday night in Ruston in match-up of 1-and-3 teams. The Bulldogs have lost their last two games, including a 38-34 defeat to Middle Tennessee. Tech Coach Skip Holtz says his team is a work in progress that is trying to get better….

LSU interim Head Coach Ed Orgeron has already said he wants to spread the ball around, instead of just relying heavily on the running game. New offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger says he’s on board with that idea…

Ensminger was previously an offensive coordinator at Clemson and Texas A&M in the 1990s. He played quarterback for the Tigers in the 1970s.

Orgeron told reporters today that defensive lineman Davon Godchaux will be reinstated to the team. Godchaux was arrested Monday morning after authorities say he had a tussle with his girlfriend and a 10-month old child was present. Charges against Godchaux and his girlfriend were dropped. Coach “O” also said running back Leonard Fournette is a game time decision for Saturday night’s contest against Missouri.

The Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame announces its 2017 class. Headliners are PGA golfer David Toms, nine-time pro football star Ed Reed, three-time Kentucky Debry-winning jockey Calvin Borel and former major league baseball player Juan Pierre, who won a world series championship with the Marlins. Also going into the Hall is Former LSU and NFL wide receiver Eddie Kennison, LSU gymnastics coach DD Breaux and former Nicholls, Southwest Louisiana and LSU coach Raymond Didier.

The Saints are back to work today getting ready for Sunday’s game against San Diego. The two teams are a combined one and five on the season. New Orleans had a very difficult time stopping the Falcons running game on Monday night. The Chargers top running back is Melvin Gordon, who has rushed for nearly 200 yards and four touchdowns.

What’s the possibility of Florida State Coach Jimbo Fisher coming to LSU? The former tigers offensive coordinator says he plans on being the Seminoles Head Coach for a long time.

LSU’s coaching staff looks a little different now that head coach Les Miles and offensive coordinator Cam Cameron have been fired. Former tight ends coach Steve Ensminger has been promoted to offensive coordinator. Wide receivers coach Dameyuene Craig is now also the recruiting coordinator and 75-year-old Pete Jenkins has been named defensive line coach. He’s considered one of the best D-line coaches in the country and previously spent 14 years as an assistant at LSU. Defensive lineman Greg Gilmore is glad to have Jenkins around…

Another major change is Austin Thomas named as the general manager of the football program, a unique title in college football. Thomas has played an important role in the recruiting.

Jacksonville, Cleveland, Chicago and the Saints are the four teams in the NFL with an 0-3 record. New Orleans was thumped by the Falcons 45-32 last night. But Quarterback Drew Brees still believes great things will happen for this team…

Louisiana Tech baseball has released its 2017 schedule. Tech will host Arkansas for two games during the midweek, February 28th and March 1st. Tech will also host Southern Miss in mid-March and the Ragin Cajuns on April 25th.

Kick-off on Saturday is at 6:30, while the SEC has announced that the Tigers game at Florida on October 8th will kick-off at 11 AM.

The Louisiana High School Atheltic Association says it will be up to schools and school districts on how they plan to handle national anthem protests. The LHSAA says there were multiple incidents by schools and fans this past Friday. They said after consulting with their lawyers it was determined that any and all decisions related to individuals or team expressions during the National Anthem is up to the individual schools.

A 45-32 loss to the Falcons last night has the Saints at 0-3 for the second consecutive year. New Orleans Quarterback Drew Brees threw for 376 yards and three touchdowns. He was intercepted once, which was returned for a touchdown by former LSU Tiger Deion Jones. Brees says his interception and a fumbled punt in the first quarter were too much to overome…

For the second consecutive year, the Saints start their season with three consecutive losses. New Orleans lost to Atlanta 45-32 last night. The game started well as the Saints jumped out to a 7-0 lead, but the game turned when De’Vante Harris ran over returner Tommylee Lewis, causing a muffed punt and giving Atlanta the ball on the New Orleans 11-yard line. Quarterback Drew Brees put up his usual great numbers with 376 yards and three touchdowns passing, but had an interception that was returned for a touchdown which turned out to be too much for the Saints to overcome.

LSU starting defensive tackle Davon Godchaux was arrested early Monday for allegedly roughing up his girlfriend during an argument, according to police. LSU has suspended him indefinitely.

In LSWA honors, Louisiana Tech Quarterback Ryan Higgins was named Offensive Player of the Week. The Defensive Players of the week are linebacker Nico Marley of Tulane, and Nicholls State defensive back B.T. Sanders. The Special Teams Player of the Week is Tulane’s kicker, Andrew DiRocco.

Orgeron has suspended indefinitely defensive tackle Davon Godchaux. He was arrested early this morning on misdemeanor charges after he was also involved in what the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s office is calling a tussle with his girlfriend.

Fired LSU Coach Les Miles was a guest this morning on the “Dan Patrick Show on DirectTV’s Audience. Miles says he supports A-D Joe Alleva’s decision, if it is what’s best for the Tigers. During the 10-minute interview, Miles indicated he would like to coach again…

The Saints look for their first win of the season tonight as they host NFC South rival Atlanta. New Orleans has yet to get tight end Coby Fleener involved in the offense. Fleener was signed a free agent in the offseason and has just three catches. Brees expects Fleener to be a major contributor as the season moves along…
