D-1 Baseball released its Regional projections and they have the Tigers as a three-seed in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

D-1 baseball has both Louisiana Tech and U-L Lafayette as two seeds. The Bulldogs are in College Station, Texas, while the Cajuns are at Clemson.

U-L Lafayette’s Kyle DeBarge was named Sun Belt player of the year today, L-P Langevin as pitcher of the year, left-handed pitcher Chase Morgan as freshman of the year and Matt Deggs as Coach of the Year.

Hall of Famer Seimone Augustus is back at LSU as she’s joining Kim Mulkey’s staff as an assistant coach. Augustus led the Lady Tigers to three straight final four appearances and then went on to win four W-N-B-A championships. Patrick Wright, voice of the Lady Tigers, says, Augustus should be a great addition…

Tommy White enters the SEC Tournament, red hot at the plate. White was 8 for -13 with three home runs, seven RBIs and six extra base hits against Ole Miss.

Louisiana Tech and the Ragin Cajuns are number one seeds in their respective conference tournaments. The Bulldogs will face Middle Tennessee in Ruston on Wednesday afternoon. U-L Lafayette will play Wednesday afternoon in Montgomery, Alabama.

The Saints Hall of Fame golf tournament is today and Coach Dennis Allen expects good attendance at O-T-As which starts tomorrow. It remains to be seen if veteran cornerback Marshon Lattimore will show up. Allen says he recently spoke with Lattimore…

Legendary basketball player Seimone Augustus is returning to LSU as she will serve as an assistant coach for Lady Tigers head coach Kim Mulkey. Augustus led LSU to three straight Final Four appearances and then went on to win four WNBA championships as a player.

LSU softball is moving on to the Super Regionals after beating Southern Illinois in the Baton Rouge Regionals. U-L Lafayette and Southeastern Louisiana saw their seasons end yesterday.

Louisiana Tech finished strong to win its first regular season conference title since 1992 as the Bulldogs swept Liberty in Virginia to secure the number one seed in the Conference USA Tournament, which will be held in Ruston. Tech will face Middle Tennessee on Wednesday afternoon.

U-L Lafayette’s softball season is over as they lost to Baylor in the championship game of the Lafayette Regional as the Bears beat the Cajuns four to three. The Cajuns finish the season with a 45-19 record.

The LSU baseball team went into the final series of the regular season needing a sweep and they are one win away from accomplishing that goal after beating Ole Miss four to two. Starting pitcher Luke Holman was outstanding as he struck out nine and left-hander Griffin Herring picked up the save for the second consecutive game as he pitched two scoreless innings. Louisiana Tech clinched the number one seed in next week’s Conference USA Tournament in Ruston by sweeping a doubleheader from Liberty. The Bulldogs defeated the Flames 12 to 8 in game one, ten to one in game two and they are 41-15 on the season.

The Ragin Cajuns wrap up the regular season today at two pm against South Alabama after splitting a double header with the Jaguars, winning the first six to five, but losing the second game ten to nothing. U-L Lafayette will be looking for its 40th win of the year today.

Nicholls can clinch a share of the Southland Conference regular season title today if they can complete a sweep of McNeese today. The Colonels clobbered the Cowboys ten to three yesterday.

In the NCAA Softball Tournament…Southeastern Louisiana upset Clemson in the Tuscloosa Regional six to two. It was the Lions first ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament. S-L-U will play Alabama at 10:30 today.

LSU and U-L Lafayette also advanced to the winner bracket. The Tigers will play Southern Illinois at noon today, while the Cajuns will battle Baylor at 2 PM.

Former LSU pitcher Paul Skenes threw six hitless innings and had eleven strikeouts in his first Major League win, a Pittsburgh nine to three victory over the Cubs.

The LSU baseball team got another great pitching performance today and will go for the sweep tomorrow against Ole Miss Rebels. Luke Holman struck out out nine in 6.2 innings as the Tigers doubled up Ole Miss four to two. Griffin Herring got out of a one out, two runners on jam in the eighth inning and earned his sixth save. Tommy White homered. Alex Milazzo and Josh Pearson had RBI singles. The final game of the series and the regular season is tomorrow at 1 PM. A win gives LSU 13 SEC wins.

Former LSU pitcher Paul Skenes struck out 11 in six hitless innings as the Pirates blew out the Cubs today today.

Louisiana Tech blew a six run lead but beat Liberty 12 to 8 in eleven innings. Jorge Corona homered twice.

ULM won game one its best of three series with Arkansas State today, 12 to 4 was the final score.

U-L Lafayette softball blanked Princeton eight to nothing in five innings to advance to the winner’s bracket. The Cajuns will play the winner of today’s game between Baylor and Ole Miss tomorrow.

Southeastern Louisiana pulled off the upset in the Tuscaloosa Regional beating Clemson six to two. It’s the Lions first ever NCAA Tournament win. They will likely play Alabama tomorrow.

The nation’s number one prospect at wide receiver for the Class of 2025 has de-committed from LSU. Dakorian Moore from Duncanville, Texas committed to the Tigers last August, but he announced yesterday he’s re-opening his commitment. Texas, Oregon and Ohio State are other schools interested in Moore.

Saints fans have dissected the 2024 regular season schedule which came out this week. Luke Johnson covers the Saints for nola-dot-com and says based on 2023 win-loss records, the 2024 schedule is not difficult….

The 21st ranked Ragin Cajuns could not finish its game with South Alabama last night. U-L Lafayette leads the Jaguars six to four in the sixth inning and the game will resume at 3 PM.

Adarius Myers RBI single in the ninth inning gave Louisiana Tech a four to three victory over Liberty. The Bulldogs are a half a game back of Dallas Baptist for first place after the Patriots swept Middle Tennessee.

ULM’s baseball game was suspended in the bottom of the eighth last night with the Warhawks leading Arkansas State eight to four at Lou St. Amant Field. The game will resume at 1 PM today.

Nicholls edged McNeese four to three, Southeastern Louisiana swept a double header from Texas A-and-M Corpus Christi, while Lamar swept a doubleheader from UNO. Northwestern State’s game against Stephen F Austin was canceled.

The wake of the release of the Saints 2024 regular season schedule sees many fans questioning if the Saints can reach the postseason for the first time since 2020. After two seasons at Oklahoma, quarterback General Booty has signed at ULM. Booty did not throw a pass for the Sooners. He last played in 2021 at Tyler Texas Junior college and that season threw for 3.410 yards and 27 touchdowns.

LSU men’s basketball has announced that seven footer Noah Boyde has signed with the Tigers. He played the last two seasons at McCook Community and averaged 11 points and nine rebounds a game.

With rain in the forecast for Baton Rouge tonight, the start of the LSU-Ole Miss series has been moved up from 6 to 4 PM. The Tigers likely need a sweep and finish 13-and-17 in the SEC to give them a chance to play in the NCAA Tournament. But LSU has not swept an SEC series this season and they are 1-and-8 on the final game of the series. Gage Jump is scheduled to start on the mound tonight, then Luke Holman on Friday. LSU football has a landed a commitment from a defensive tackle out of the transfer portal. Six-foot-three, 282-pound Jay’viar Suggs announced on social media he’s transferring to LSU after two seasons at Division Two Grand Valley State, where he had 42 tackles, 14 tackles for a loss and eight sacks.

Oklahoma quarterback General Booty had transferred to ULM. Booty started for Tyler Junior College in 2021 where he recorded 25 touchdowns and 3,115 yards before transferring to Oklahoma where he played the past two seasons.

The Saints 2024 schedule is out and the first half of the schedule looks tough. New Orleans will host Carolina in the season opener. The Panthers had the worst record in the league last year but after Carolina its a trip to Dallas, host Philadelphia, visit Atlanta, a Monday night trip to Kansas City, host Tampa Bay and then Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos visit the Superdome on October 13th.

The NFL releases its schedule tonight. It comes down at 7 PM. But of course there have already been leaks. The Black and Gold will open the season by hosting division rival Carolina on September eighth. New Orleans will host the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3. And Sean Payton will make his return to the Caesar’s Superdome in Week 8. New Orleans will host Payton’s Broncos for Thursday night football. The Saints will reportedly appear on Monday night football in Week 16, against the Green Bay Packers in Lambeau Field.

Also, the NFL has announced the Netflix will stream the two games the league will have on Christmas Day this season. The Ravens versus the Texas is reportedly one of those games.

Angel Reese makes her debut in the WNBA tonight as the Chicago Sky face the Dallas Wings in Big “D.” In two preseason games, the Bayou Barbie averaged 13 points and seven rebounds a contest. Tonight’s game will not be televised.

Baseball America released its latest NCAA Tournament projections and they have the Tigers as one of the last four teams out. LSU is looking for at least a series victory against Ole Miss. That series begins tomorrow night at Alex Box.

Baseball America has Louisiana Tech as a two-seed in the Knoxville Regional. Bulldogs star Ethan Bates has been named a two-way player of the year semifinalist. The Arkansas native has 16 home runs and 67 RBIs. He’s also the team’s closer and has 14 saves. The Bulldogs close out the regular season with a three-game series starting tomorrow at Liberty.

Baseball America also has the Ragin Cajuns as a two seed and they have U-L Lafayette in the College Station Regional. U-L Lafayette will host South Alabama for a series beginning tomorrow night. The Jaguars beat Southeastern Louisiana 13 to 1 last night.

One other college baseball score. Chase Keeton’s two-run-double in the tenth inning gave McNeese a seven-to-six win over Texas State. Keeton is a senior so it was last swing at Joe Miller Ballpark.
