In the aftermath of Friday’s Paris terror attacks, Governor Bobby Jindal sent a letter to the Obama administration demanding information on the number of Syrian refugees that have been placed in Louisiana. A total of 14 Syrians refugees were accepted into the state this year according to the State Department. Several internet blogs erroneously reported that 10,000 Syrian refugees made their way into Louisiana this year. ISIS claimed responsibility for the Paris attacks which killed 129 and injured 350 others.

The Secretary of State’s office reports that over 257,000 registered Louisiana voters cast ballots during the state’s early voting period for this Saturday’s runoff election. That’s a 16-percent increase from the primary election last month. It’s reported that based on early voter numbers, voter turnout for Saturday’s election is predicted to be 44-percent. Only 39-percent of voters turned out for the October 24th primary.

A dismal performance for the Saints Sunday as they were routed by the Redskins 47-14. The Saints defense set the tone for this one, as they allowed Washington to march 96 yards down the field on its first drive and score a touchdown. New Orleans allowed 514 yards of total offense. The two candidates for Lt. Governor will also go head to head today. Republican Billy Nungesser and Democrat Kip Holden will meet at a forum hosted by the Baton Rouge Press Club.

The 2015 Louisiana Tax Amnesty period begins today. Over the next 30 days people have the opportunity to bring overdue taxes up to date with lessened interest charges and penalties. More information is available at ldrtaxamnesty-dot-com. The tax amnesty period will run through December 15th and will be the last one offered by the state until at least January 1st, 2025.

Because of this year’s outbreak of avian influenza, some are concerned if there be enough turkeys for Thanksgiving? Professor and Poultry Extension Specialist with the LSU Ag Center Theresia Lavergne assures that you will be able to find a turkey for the holiday. She says typically people eat the smaller hens during their family feast, which weren’t as effected by the flu…

Funeral services for New Orleans music icon Allen Toussaint have been set for Friday at the Orpheum Theatre in New Orleans. Toussaint passed away last Monday after a performance in Madrid, Spain. Visitation will begin at 8AM Friday and will continue until services begin at 11AM. A private burial will follow. Toussaint was 77-years-old.

Early voting ends today and Secretary of State Tom Schedler encourages everyone to go out and exercise your right to vote. Total voter turnout in October was 39-percent and Schedler says we could possibly have an anomaly where the general election receives a better turnout than the primary, because early voting has been brisk this week…

Schedler says voters are more engaged now that the ballot is smaller, especially with the governor’s race down to just two candidates.

Some people may early vote and then head to Tiger Stadium to see ninth ranked LSU host Arkansas. The Tigers are looking to rebound after a tough loss to Alabama last week. Les Miles is 27-and-2 at LSU in games after a loss. But both losses were against the Razorbacks. Kick-off is at 6:15.

Also today…ULM hosts Arkansas State, who is undefeated in the Sun Belt, and Nicholls State will face Central Arkansas for a six o’ clock kickoff in Thibodaux.

The 2015 gubernatorial poll by UNO showed Democrat John Bel Edwards with a 22 point lead over Republican David Vitter. Pollster Ed Chervenak says nearly half of people who voted for the other two GOP candidates in the primary, said they would push the button for Edwards next Saturday…:

Lawyers for Saints and Pelicans owner Tom Benson and his former heirs have agreed to mediation over Benson’s lawsuit to remove them as future owners of the teams. Benson’s lawsuit seeks to take back stock in the team from his heirs and force them out as non-voting owners of the teams. Legal analyst Tim Meche says it’s normal for a judge to order mediation in a case like this…:

Legal analyst Tim Meche believes this is a sign that Judge Jane Triche Milazzo indicated to Benson’s lawyers they would not win the case if it went to trial…:

Robertston says he knows Vitter has made some mistakes, but who hasn’t, referring to the Senator’s prostitution scandal. ULM political science professor Joshua Stockley says the timing of this commercial won’t work for Vitter…

Meanwhile Governor Bobby Jindal says he will not make an endorsement in the race. The republican presidential candidate says the public doesn’t care much about one politician endorsing another.

State Treasurer John Kennedy, who is a republican, went on the Moon Griffon Radio Show today and urged fellow republican Scott Angelle to endorse Vitter in the governor’s race. Angelle finished third, just behind Vitter in the gubernatorial campaign.

A three hour standoff between authorities and an armed man on a boat in Larose ended early this afternoon. Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Brennan Matherne says they got a report of a man trespassing on a boat and when deputies arrived, the saw the man was armed and they later moved in to take him into custody after he fired a gun into the air. They believe 44-year-old Daniel Boudreaux was trying to rob the boat…:
