A Denham Springs man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison after pleading no contest to sexual battery charges. Dwayne Miller was ordered to serve his sentence without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence. Authorities say Miller admitted to the New Years Eve 2012 crime while in custody.

This move seeks to prohibit BESE and the Department of Education from using any standardized tests designed through an association with Common Core. The injunction request was filed in state district court today.

After an investigation, the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 25-year-old New Iberia man on charges of attempted first degree murder and home invasion. Arneze Jack was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail for the incident which occurred in New Iberia. No bond has been set at this time.

Jindal added it is shortsighted of Holden to say that illegal immigrants and an unsecured border do not have an impact on Louisiana.
