Over 95-percent of ads on TV during the first week of campaigns in the US-Senate runoff in Louisiana were for Republican Congressman Bill Cassidy. That’s according to Bloomberg. The report shows, statewide, only 82 pro- incumbent Mary Landrieu ads aired compared to over 1900 pro-Cassidy commercials. But Political analyst Bernie Pinsonat says Landrieu won’t be left out…:

An LSU police officer who was injured in a crash following the Alabama game is in stable condition and the story is making national headlines, because it was team doctors from Alabama who quickly came to Sergeant Chris Greshman’s aid….

That’s LSU Police Captain Corey Lalande, who says Greshman suffered an injured knee, several broken bones and fractures.

Most of Louisiana is under a freeze warning tonight and tomorrow morning and parishes in southwest Louisiana are under a hard freeze warning. The National Weather Service forecasts freezing tempeatures for several hours.

Former Republican Vice-Presidential nominee Sarah Palin will be in Louisiana on Saturday. She’ll attend a campaign rally in Monroe for Congressman Bill Cassidy.

This Sunday the Saints host Cincinnati. Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton is having a tough season as he’s been intercepted nine times and thrown only eight touchdowns.

What kind of game will LSU get from quarterback Anthony Jennings? He’s completed only 47-percent of his passes. It’s expected to be cold on Saturday night in Fayetteville and there’s a 20-percent chance for precipitation. Expect LSU to rely on its running game. Leonard Fournette has rushed for 736 yards and seven touchdowns.

LSU athletic hall of famer and world series manager Alvin Dark has passed away at the age of 92. Dark was an all-SEC halfback for the LSU football team in 1942 and also played on LSU’s baseball team, before transferring to Southwestern Louisiana Institute, now U-L Lafayette. He was also a football- baseball star for the Bulldogs, who are now the ragin Cajuns. He was a shortstop on the New York Giants 1954 World Series championship team and managed the Oakland As to a 1974 World Series title.

In college hooops…LSU’s sophomore Jordan Mickey is a first-team All-SEC preseason selection by the league’s coaches. Vanderbilt’s Damian Jones, who is from Baton Rouge, is also on that list.

Ragin Cajuns forward Shawn Long has been named to the Lou Henson Award Watch List, which goes annually to the Division One “Mid-Major” Player of the Year.

The Ragin Cajuns tip off their season tomorrow night against Louisiana College. Also, Louisiana Tech visits Southern.

An LSU police officer remains in stable condition after getting hit by a passing vehicle late Saturday night in which Alabama team doctors rushed to his aid. The story is starting to grab national headlines. The doctors, Lyle Cain, Norman Waldrop and Benton Emblom were part of the team’s motorcade according to LSUPD spokesman Captain Corey Lalonde:

LaLonde says the officer is 33-year-old Sgt. Christopher Gresham and he’s an eight year veteran of the department. He says Gresham sustained very serious injuries in the crash…:

LaLonde says the crash itself was investigated by the Baton Rouge Police Department but the driver of the other vehicle was cited in the crash. He believes the Alabama doctors that rushed to Gresham’s aid played a crucial role in the moments following the crash…:

Two Baton Rouge police officers and a former officer are facing charges in a sex case in which they allegedly forced a woman to perform a sexual act on one of the officers at a Baton Rouge park earlier this year. East Baton Rouge District Attorney Hillar Moore says evidence against the three men was compiled by the Baton Rouge police department

Moore says the incident happened last February. He says the three officers, who were on duty and in uniform, threatened to tow the woman’s car or arrest her after she was found with a man in a parked car. Moore says two of the officers forced the man to leave and that’s when the sex act occurred…

An attorney for one of the three men charged in this case, says they look forward to their day in court. Moore says they face a charge of abuse of office, which could lead to jail time if convicted

The search continues for a missing Louisiana woman believed to be in a wooded area of south Arkansas. 32-year-old Amanda McKinnie McPherson of Marion was last seen in in woods near Three Creeks in Union County on November 3rd. Sheriff Mike McGough (ma GOO) says McPherson and a male friend were driving in the area and got stuck. McGough says the male friend left to find help, but got lost…

He says by the time the male friend returned to the truck, McPherson had left. McGough says she talked to family and friends on her cellphone before trying to walk out of the woods on her own. He says they are still in and out of the woods looking for McPherson…

No one has heard from McPherson since her phone went dead. McGough says they have no reason to suspect foul play at this point, but they are not ruling that out…

The Pelicans had no trouble getting past the Lakers last night as they defeated L-A 109-102. At one point, New Orleans had a 23-point lead and shot 56-percent from the floor. Anthony Davis led the way with 25 points, 12 rebounds and six blocked shots. Tyreke Evans had a double-double, 19 points and 11 assists. New Orleans hosts Minnesota on Friday.

The Saints are looking to get back in the win column after an overtime loss to San Francisco last weekend. It was the latest frustating loss for the Black and Gold in an up-and-down season. Coach Sean Payton says the team can’t look in the past…

The Keystone Pipeline project has become the focus of the US Senate race. During the campaign, Democratic Senator Mary Landrieu has touted her clout as a reason to elect her, so today she called on her colleagues in the Senate to vote on the Keystone Pipeline project….

Shortly after Landrieu spoke, republican leaders in the House said they would vote on a bill tomorrow by Republican Congressman Bill Cassidy that authorizes the building of the pipeline. Its unclear if the Democratic controlled Senate will have their own vote.

Two Baton Rouge Police officers and a former officer were indicted today on sex-related charges. East Baton Rouge District Attorney Hillar Moore says Isaac Bolden, Emerson Jackson and Travis Wheeler were all in uniform and on duty at the time when they convinced a woman to perform a sexual act on one of the three men at a Baton Rouge park.

The coldest temperatures of the fall have arrived and that could result in an increase in home fires. The American Red Cross says heating sources are the second leading cause of home fire deaths, and fatal home fires increase in the winter months. State Fire Marshal Butch Browning says if you use a space heater, make sure there’s a clear area of space around it…:

A man had to be rescued from his burning home in Shreveport this morning. Authorities say a retired state trooper pulled an individual out of his home that was engulfed in flames. The former law enforcement officer was not injured, but the man inside the house suffered non-life threatening injuries.

In the Southland Conference…Southeastern Louisiana will host McNeese State. The Lions are tied for first in the league and they are one game ahead of the Cowboys. S-L-U Coach Ron Roberts says he has a lot of respect for the McNeese football program…

Maness received over 200,000 votes in the November 4th election. He says he’d consider another run for office if he felt called to do so…

Maness had the best finish of a non-politician in a Senate race in recent memory. He has endorsed fellow Republican Bill Cassidy in December’s Senate runoff election. Maness says he and Cassidy have talked about their differences and feels he is the right person for the job…

Baton Rouge PD says an active-military officer is under arrest after allegedly trying to run over her fiance while their one year old infant was in the car. Cpl. Don Coppola says 24-year-old Mictissa Moseley (mOHz-lee) was a passenger in the vehicle when she and her fiance, who was driving, got into a huge fight…:

Coppola says Moseley demanded that her fiance, who is also an active military officer, get out of the vehicle. Coppola says while the male victim was waiting for a ride, Moseley returned at a high rate of speed and tried to run him over while the baby was inside the car. The Saints return to the practice field today to get ready for Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Cincinnati has one of the worst defenses in the NFL as they rank 30th in the league in total yards given up per game and next to last in rush defense.

The big game in the Southland Conference this Saturday is between McNeese State and Southeastern Louisiana. Both teams are ranked and have injuries at the quarterback position. The Cowboys Daniel Sams has a thumb injury and is questionable for Saturday, while S-L-U’s Bryan Bennett has a foot injury. Lions Coach Ron Roberts is optimistic Bennett will play, but also knows injuries are part of the game…

McNeese State linebacker Deontate Thompson is done for the season. The four-year starter has decided to stop playing after suffering a concussion.

In the NBA tonight…the Pelicans host Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers tonight. L-A dropped to 1-and-6 on the season with a 107-102 loss to Memphis last night.

And today LSU should receive a signed national letter of intent from six-foot-eight power forward Ben Simmons, who is one of the top recuits in the nation.

Three people were killed last night in fiery wreck in Terrebonne Parish involving two vehicles. State Police troooper Evan Harrell says a 19-year-old driver was traveling at a high rate of speed, lost control of the vehicle and entered the southbound lanes of L-A 24…

Harrell says both adult occupants of the other vehicle were killed, as well as the 19-year-old driver.

LSU sports information director Michael Bonnette says the coldest game temperature for an LSU game was 31-degrees. That was 1992 at Arkansas.

Saints cornerback Kennan Lewis hopes to play this Sunday against the Bengals, even though he was seen walking gingerly around the locker room yesterday with a left knee injury. In case Lewis can’t go, New Orleans has reportedly signed safety Jamarca Sanford, who was released by the Redskins two weeks ago. He also spent five seasons playing for Minnesota, starting 44 games.

The high school football playoffs kick-off this weekend. In Four-A, Neville is ranked number one by the sports writers, but they have the number two seed in the 4-A bracket. Plaquemine is the number one-seed and the Green Devils will begin their run through the playoffs by hosting McDonough 35. Neville has Riverdale. If Neville advances, they’ll face either Breaux Bridge or West Ouachita in Round 2.

The Pelicans are off tonight after losing last night in Cleveland 118-111. Tomorrow night, New Orleans hosts the 1-and-5 Lakers, who are at Memphis tonight.
