A Bossier City woman faces attempted kidnapping charges after telling her estranged boyfriend she gave birth in Alexandria and that their premature child was being treated Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital in Baton Rouge. BRPD spokesperson Darren Ahmed says 21-year-old Dinesty Selmon preyed on a child that had the least visitors. Her boyfriend became suspicious because the name she gave him didn’t match the one listed in the room. Ahmed says the child was never taken from the room by Selmon however…

The Louisiana House passed a measure that aims to ease the workload of educators. Vernon Parish Representative Charles Owen believes topics like CPR, eating disorders, adoption and substance abuse should be taught by parents. And teachers should spend more time teaching core subjects like English, math, and science to students in the classroom. He recalls Amanda Bealer, an educator in Leesville, who walked away from teaching because of heavy classroom demands.

The eighth ranked LSU baseball team fell to 2-and-5 in the SEC with a seven to four loss last night to top ranked Arkansas. The difference was a three-run homer by Kendall Diggs off of LSU reliever Gavin Guidry in the eighth inning. Game two is tonight at 7 PM and Luke Holman will be on the hill for the Tigers.

ULM got a big night at the plate from Shawn Dalton Weatherbee as the Warhawks upset 19th ranked Coastal Carolina 11 to three. Weatherbee had four hits and drove in five runs.

The Ragin Cajuns won their ninth straight last night as U-L Lafayette continues to get great pitching. The Cajuns topped Texas State four to one as Andrew Herrmann and LP Langevin held the Bobcats to five hits. U-L is now in sole possession of first place in the Sun Belt.

Louisiana Tech lost its first Conference USA game as they fell to FIU 13 to 4. The Bulldogs will try again today at 5:30 in Miami.

Hammond Police are charging three individuals with attempted murder after a female student at Southeastern Louisiana University survived a fentanyl overdose. Police Chief Edwin Bergeron says previously these suspects would just face drug charges, but they are doing something new in Tangipahoa Parish……

50-year-old Kawaiishh Brown and two men, 29-year-old, Shyheim Pines, and 21-year-old Mark Fridge, III face attempted murder charges. The student is back at school.

Pontchatoula based candy maker Elmer’s chocolate has been producing sweet treats since 1855, and Easter baskets are being filled this weekend in Louisiana. Elmer’s CEO, Rob Nelson says there’s usually a big rush on the South Louisiana treats and Louisiana has its favorites.

Nelson says the three days leading up to the Easter holiday, that this year is coming early, are the busiest of the year.

Three individuals are facing attempted murder charges in connection to the non-fatal overdose of a Southeastern student. Brooke Thorington explains.

Two 16-year-olds and one 14 year old student have been arrested in connection with bringing firearms on at Captain Shreve High School campus in Shreveport Thursday. Authorities say a school resource officer found a fully automatic rifle in a student’s backpack. The students are facing multiple gun related charges.

Three people are facing attempted murder charges after a Southeastern student survived a fentanyl overdose in January. Hammond Police Chief Edwin Bergeron says the Fentanyl Overdose Response Team, made up of several law enforcement agencies, hopes to curb the overdose epidemic and send a strong message to drug dealers.

If crawfish is on your Easter menu, plan to spend 50 cents a pound more than last week as demand is outpacing supply. Crawfish App co-founder Laney King says prices are almost double what they were last Easter. She says Easter is the busiest weekend of the season and supply is lower than usual.

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries biologist Shelby Richard (Ree-shard) says they caught a 92-pound, nearly 50-inch Grass Carp in Lake Concordia in Ferriday. He says they’ve sent samples to the U-S Fish and Wildlife Service to see if it was sterile. He p0ints out Lake Concordia does not have the necessary habitat for reproduction.

LDWF biologist Shelby Richard says this is the first time they’ve ever seen a Grass Carp in Lake Concordia…

The Ragin Cajuns won their ninth straight last night as U-L Lafyette topped Texas State four to one to take over sole possession of first place in the Sun Belt. Lee Amedee’s RBI double in the sixth inning snapped a one-one tie.

ULM knocked off 19th ranked Coastal Carolina 11 to three. Shawn Dalton Weatherbee had four hits and drove in five runs, while Cam Barlow allowed one run over five innings for the win.

Louisiana Tech gave up six runs in the second inning and lost to FIU 13 to 4.

Elsewhere…Grambling State remains unbeaten in the SWAC after pounding Texas Southern 13 to 5. Ashton INman and Kyle Walker each homered.

McNeese won its Southland opener, beating Northwestern State eight to two. Southeastern Louisiana run-ruled Houston Christian 11 to one in seven innings. Nicholls defeated A-and-M Corpus Christi seven to three.
