Gary Chambers, an outspoken challenger to Republican U.S. Senator John Kennedy’s re-election says the Senator’s latest campaign ad has a racist message. In the ad, Kennedy says, “If you hate cops just because they’re cops, the next time you get in trouble call a crackhead.” Chambers says it’s another classic one-liner from Kennedy that doesn’t help Louisiana…:

Crowley state Representative John Stefanski announces he will run for Attorney General of Louisiana in 2023. The 38-year-old Republican lawmaker is chairman of the House & Governmental Affairs Committee, which oversaw redistricting earlier this year. Stefanski says he expects the A.G.’s office to be an “open seat” next fall…:

Superintendent of Education Dr. Cade Brumley announced the official launch of the “Say it Here,” phone app that enables middle and high school students in Louisiana to anonymously report crimes on campus. Brumley says it’s important to give students the ability to say something when they see something.

Louisiana football legend Terry Bradshaw has revealed he battled two forms of cancer over the past year. Bradshaw says he had bladder cancer and then a rare skin cancer. The Shreveport native, former Louisiana Tech star, and NFL Hall of Famer shared his story on Fox NFL Sunday.

LSU’s B-J Ojulari has been named SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week for his performance in the comeback 21-17 win over Auburn. Ojulari led the Tigers with four tackles, including a pair of sacks and his strip sack of Auburn quarterback Robby Ashford led to Jay Ward’s 23-yard fumble return for a touchdown.

LSU forced four turnovers on the night, three of them in the fourth quarter. Greg Brooks’ interception late in the game sealed the victory. Coach Brian Kelly says Brooks’ anticipated the play…

LSU has finally cracked the A-P Top 25 poll as they are ranked 25th and the Tigers will host 8th ranked Tennessee this Saturday.

The Saints are now on a three-game losing streak after losing to Minnesota 28-25 in London yesterday. New Orleans will be back in the Superdome this Sunday to take on the Seahawks who outscored the Lions 48-45 yesterday. Safety Tyrann Mathieu says with two straight home games coming up, hopefully they can turn the season around…

FEMA will be awarding the City of Lake Charles an additional $4-million in federal grants to assist with needed repairs from Hurricane Laura in 2020. U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy says the funding was part of a larger $20.5 million hurricane relief package for Hurricane Ida relief.

Rapides Parish deputies make another arrest in false threats recently made against Rapides High last week. One juvenile has already been nabbed, but he appeared to be a secondary source of the messages. The student originally responsible has been taken into custody and charged with terrorizing and obstructing justice.

 

Crowley state Representative John Stefanski says he WILL run for state Attorney General a year from now. He made that official today. The 38-year-old Republican lawmaker is currently chairman of the House & Governmental Affairs Committee and is a lawyer. Stefanski says, if elected, he would work to make Louisiana safer and more secure…:

On the September 27th pre-game show, Bradshaw appeared to be in pain and struggling to breathe. Viewers noticed and started asking questions on social media. The 74-year-old Bradshaw says he decided it was time to share his medical info.

But four months later, in March Bradshaw says he noticed neck pain.

Bradshaw says surgery to remove that tumor was also successful. Bradshaw won four Super Bowls with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He retired from football in 1984 and began his television career as an NFL analyst. He has been with Fox NFL Sunday since 1994

As part of the Safe Schools Initiative Louisiana Superintendent of Education, Dr. Cade Brumley announces the launch of the “Say It Here” app. Brumley says the app allows middle and high school students the ability to anonymously report crime and in many cases be proactive.

The app is in partnership with Greater New Orleans Crimestoppers, Louisiana State Police,  and the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness.  The app also provides mental health resources like a hotline for students who are bullied or victims of crime. Brumley explains how tips are handled once they are submitted on the app.

He says it follows the best practices and procedures for operating national anonymous student hotlines like the Sandy Hook Promise. Presently 40 Louisiana school systems are already participating which equates to some 500 middle and high schools. Brumley says it’s important to give students the ability to say something when they see something.

For schools to participate Brumley says it can be done in as easily as two weeks. An initial memorandum of understanding must be executed and then training for school staff and students.

The state Department of Education launches an app that allows students to anonymously let officials know if someone is planning school violence. Education Superintendent Cad Brumley says the “Say It Here” app has a mechanism to assure anonymity…:

Speaking of Crimestoppers, Shreveport-Caddo Crimestoppers offers a reward for tips that help them catch 24-year-old Roderick Andrew; wanted for a September 25th shooting that left another man injured. When caught he faces a charge of attempted murder.

A Terrebonne Parish high school football coach is arrested for alleged molestation of a juvenile. 24-year-old Bobby Sewire was booked and released on $15-thousand bond. His current status with Terrebonne High School is unknown right now.

State Police reports 16-year-old Robert Lewis of Natchitoches died yesterday in a Utility Terrain Vehicle crash. Authorities say a 14-year-old was operating the U-T-V and Lewis was a passenger when the driver lost control and it overturned. Lewis was ejected and died at a local hospital from his injuries. The juvenile driver sustained minor injuries.

The good news is that no one is running away with the NFC South. Tampa Bay fell to 2-and-2 after losing to Kansas City 41-31 last night. Atlanta beat Cleveland 23-20 as the Falcons improved to 2-and-2, while the Panthers fell to 1-and-3 with a 26-16 loss to Arizona. New Orleans hosts Seattle this Sunday. The Seahawks outscored Detroit 48-45 to improve to 2-and-2.

Executive Director of the Louisiana Office of Community Development Pat Forbes says fill out a survey to see if you are eligible…
