The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Department two boys who were taken outside of their father’s home in Ponchatoula Tuesday have been found in Florida.  8-year-old Kaesyn Heck and 4-year-old Jax Matthews are now in protective custody in Santa Rosa County. Their mother escaped on foot when authorities located the car she was driving.

Our neighbors in Texas and Mississippi are dropping their mask mandates but Louisiana is not following suit. Matt Doyle has more.

Tonight at the Smoothie King Center, the Pelicans will host the Bulls. Nearly a month ago, Chicago beat New Orleans 129-116 and Bulls All Star Zach LaVine had 46 points. He’s been averaging nearly 29 points a game.

The Saints have reportedly restructured defensive tackle David Onyemata’s contract, which will create four-point-three million dollars in cap space. Onyemata signed a three-year, 26 million dollar deal prior to the 2020 season.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport says the Saints have also discussed with teams the possibility of trading defensive tackle Malcolm Brown, who is entering the final year of three-year, 15-million dollar contract. Rapoport says the Saints would ave five million dollars against the cap if they either traded or released Brown.

With Louisiana moving into phase 3, sporting events can now increase fan capacity to 50 percent. LSU says they plan to do so, once the state fire marshal’s office approves their plans.

The LSU men’s basketball team easily defeated Vanderbilt last night 83-68 at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. The Tigers improved to 10-6 in the SEC and they clinched a double-bye in the SEC Tournament. Coach Will Wade has already led LSU to an SEC regular-season championship, he would also like an SEC Tournament title too…

An Amber Alert was issued for the two boys after they were kidnapped and the car, they were sitting in was also taken by their biological mother. Director of Louisiana Poison Control Dr. Mark Ryan says ivermectin was at one time used in hospitals to treat patients when nothing else proved to be effective, but as physicians have found more useful drug therapies the medication has been removed as an option.

Louisiana has now vaccinated atleast 657,000 people since December and that number looks set to begin ramping up quickly with the Biden Administration saying there will be enough doses for all Americans to get a shot by the end of May. State Health Officer Dr. Joe Kanter says the ramp up is crucial because we’re now in a race against a string of more deadly and contagious variants.

Some have tried a drug used on horses called ivermectin (ai-ver-mek-tn,) Director of Louisiana Poison Control center Dr. Mark Ryan says based on the few studies done, it’s not proven to treat COVID.

An Amber Alert remains active for a missing eight-year-old and four-year-old from Ponchatoula. The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s office says Kaesyn Heck and Jax Matthews were inside their father’s vehicle when it was stolen from his home. The vehicle is a maroon 2013 Hyundai Elantra with a busted sunroof.

The state health department reported 582 new cases of COVID-19 today and 21 more deaths. The number of COVID patients in the hospital fell by 41 to 588. Some people have tried a drug used on horses called ivermectin to treat COVID symptoms. The LSU men’s basketball team cruised to a win over Vanderbilt in its home finale as the Tigers beat the Commodores 83-68 in a game that they led from start to finish.  Cam Thomas led all Tigers with 23 points and Darius Days had a bounce-back game with 13 points and 10 rebounds.  With the win, LSU will receive a double-bye in the SEC tournament.  Here’s coach Will Wade on how important this win was.

LSU will wrap up the regular season on Saturday against Missouri, then will focus on the SEC tournament next Friday.

The Louisiana Tech men’s basketball team will wrap up the season tonight against Our Lady of the Lake.  If the Bulldogs can get a victory tonight, it would give them 20 wins for the year.

Tech currently has the best record in Conference USA with a 12-4 record in league play.

The New Orleans Pelicans will host the Chicago Bulls tonight at 7.  The Pels are coming off of a big win against the Utah Jazz 129-124.  New Orleans continues to be efficient on offense and guard JJ Redick says if they can improve on defense, they’ll be tough to beat.

Due to the cancellation of the LSU-Nicholls State baseball game last night, the Tigers will play a double-header today.  The first game will be against Nicholls at 2 p.m. then the Tigers will take on Southern at 6:30.

Last night, the Ragin Cajuns baseball team got a victory over La Tech 7-2, making it their fourth straight win.  They play McNeese tonight.
