The final preseason game of the year is tonight as the Saints host the Los Angeles Rams. After tonight’s game, the Black and Gold will have to cut their roster down to 53 before 3 PM on Sunday. The starters are not expected to play, but fans going to the Dome tonight will likely see first round pick Marcus Davenport and wide receiver Cam Meredith. Both guys missed a portion of training camp because of injuries.

A low scoring game is expected Sunday night when LSU meets Miami in Dallas. The Hurricanes didn’t allow many points last season and they return seven starters from that unit. And LSU has several question marks on offense. Tigers linebacker Devin White says they plan on shutting down the Miami offense…

The college football season begins tonight. ULM hosts Southeastern Louisiana at 7:00, while Tulane takes on Wake Forest at Yulman Stadium.

Northwestern State is also in in action tonight as they begin the season in College Station where they’ll take on the Texas A&M Aggies. Head Coach Brad Laird has not named a starter at quarterback as he plans to play both senior Clay Holgorsen and junior Shelton Eppler

First-year Ragin Cajuns Billy Napier has named Andre Nunez as the starting quarterback for Saturday’s game against Grambling. Sophomore Levi Lewis is expected to see time as well.

Senior Associate Athletic Director Robert Munson says they are looking for 25 people to sit on the New Tiger Fan Council. He says you don’t have to be a season ticket holder or live in Baton Rouge to be a part of the panel that can help shape the future game day experience at LSU…

A teenager lost his life this morning in a single vehicle crash in LaFourche Parish. Trooper Jesse LaGrange says 19-year-old Robbie Istre (East) of Cut Off was not buckled up and impairment does not appear to be a factor…

In the past week, Lake Charles area authorities have seen an uptick in synthetic marijuana overdoses, where the users would become unconscious shortly after they ingested it. Acadian Ambulance Medical Director Dr. Chuck Burnell says first responders found users passed out in human piles.

The deal to transfer control of University Health Hospitals in Shreveport and Monroe from BRF to Oschner has been agreed to and should become effective October 1st.  Some may be concerned about the price tag of the new partnership enterprise between LSU and Oscher, but Commissioner of Administration Jay Dardenne says despite the larger contract number, the total expense to the state will remain the same.

In the past week, Lake Charles area authorities have seen an uptick in synthetic marijuana overdoses, where the users would become unconscious shortly after they ingested it. Acadian Ambulance Medical Director Dr. Chuck Burnell says during a four-day period they transported 45 people to a local hospital that had similar symptoms.

Commissioner of Administration Jay Dardenne says it’s a fitting end to a long saga.

A young Lafourche man is dead after an early morning crash on LA 308. 19-year-old Robbie Istre of Cut Off was traveling north when for unknown reasons his vehicle crossed the center line in a right curve and flew off the roadway. His vehicle struck a tree which lead to him sustaining fatal injuries. Impairment is not suspected, and Mr. istre was not wearing a seatbelt at the time.

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s office has arrested a man who allegedly threatened to harm his estranged wife, who works at Martha Vineyard Elementary School in Ponchatoula. The threat led to an increase in police presence and deputies have arrested the suspect 39-year-old Chad Milton of Ponchatoula.

The Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s office has charged 38-year-old Natalie Robinson of Calhoun with a felony count of practicing law without a license. Deputies booked Robinson after they found evidence that showed she allegedly drew up child custody papers and other legal documents for people for a fee.

The Saints final preseason game is tonight as they host the Los Angeles Rams. Former Ohio State Quarterback J-T Barrett should get plenty of snaps, but the chances of him making the 53-man roster took a hit when the Black and Gold traded for Teddy Bridgewater, who is now the top candidate to replace Drew Brees, when he decides to retire. Running back Shane Vereen and Tommylee Lewis also need big games tonight as they are on the bubble to make the roster. Kick-off is at 7.

LSU defensive tackle Rashard Lawrence has not been at practice several times during the portions viewed by the media during fall camp, but the former Neville star says he’s ready to go for the season opener on Sunday against Miami…

It’s Gameday on the campus of ULM tonight as the Warhawks host Southeastern Louisiana to begin the 2018 season. ULM returns Caleb Evans at quarterback, who accounted for 30 touchdowns rushing and passing. Lions Head Coach Frank Scelfo says he’s impressed with Evans and the Warhawks defense…

The governor’s office says on October 1st, Ochsner and LSU will take over the management of safety-net hospitals in Shreveport and Monroe. The new deal will cost an additional 40-dollars, but Commissioner of Adminsitration Jay Dardenne says federal money will cover the extra cost.

State Representative Blake Miguez appears in two commercials produced by the Louisiana Republican Judiciary PAC that urge voters to support the constitutional amendment on the November sixth ballot that seeks to end the use of non-unanimous jury verdicts in felony cases. Miguez says it should be a 100-percent decision by a jury, before someone is sent to jail…
