A K-9 police dog and three people are dead in a Crowley officer-involved shooting. Master Trooper Brooks David says two females were found deceased and the suspect died also died. He says they are investigating what exactly happened…:

The Walker Police Sergeant accused of hanging a noose in the squad room has resigned. Capt. John Sharp says the resignation comes ahead of the city council meeting where the allegations against the officer would be discussed…:

Three people and a police K9 are dead following an officer involved shooting in Crowley that also left the officer wounded. Master Trooper Brooks David says they received a call that an officer was shot around 10:30 last night. He says when troopers arrived, it was a gruesome scene:

He says Crowley cops arrived they found one woman dead then another female was later located deceased. The suspect allegedly shot the K9 then was fatally shot by cops. The human officer hit is in stable condition.

New census numbers find Louisiana’s population was 4.6 million in 2016, only growing 0.3-percent from the previous year. The Baton Rouge man accused of killing and dismembering his parents has been indicted by a grand jury in Knoxville. 28-year-old Joel Guy Jr is accused of murdering his mom and dad then trying to dissolve the bodies in acid during a Thanksgiving visit in Tennessee last year. He will be tried there on two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of abusing a corpse, and one count felony murder.

Three people are dead in an officer involved shooting in Crowley. The officer was also shot and is said to be in stable condition. Police responded to shots fired at 10:30 last night and the deceased victims are reportedly two women and one man. The third body was discovered when detectives went to question someone following the shooting last night.

Governor John Bel Edwards announces Maj. Kevin Reeves will act as interim superintendent of Louisiana State Police after Col Mike Edmonson retires tomorrow. Reeves said he would stay on as the permanent guy for the job if the governor asked him too. He says it’s an honor to serve as interim:

Edmonson’s retirement comes amid multiple ongoing investigations into the department’s travel spending after troopers made taxpayer funded side trips on their way to a training conference. Reeves says he looks forward to addressing these issues.

The defense is presenting its case today in the Derrick Stafford trial.
He’s one of the two city marshals charged with the murder of 6-year-old Jeremy Mardis. The prosecution wrapped up Wednesday after a witness told jurors that three of the four bullets in the boy’s body came from Stafford’s issued gun. The fourth bullet could not be identified.

Wade threw out the first pitch last night at Alex Box Stadium before LSU defeated Southeastern 8-2. Freshman third baseman Josh Smith and junior rightfielder Greg Deichmann combined to go 6-for-7 at the plate, accounting for a total of seven RBI for the Tigers. Freshman right-hander Zack Hess tossed 4 innings and allowed only one run on two hits. The Lions’ lone offense came on solo home runs by junior Taylor Schwaner and senior Carson Crites.

More around the diamond Wednesday, Nicholls State blew a six run lead in the ninth against Southern, but ended up barely defeating the Jaguars 10-9 on a walk-off wild pitch. It’s the 4th in a row for the Colonels and second victory on a walk-off wild pitch.

Tulane started strong and ended up defeating No. 15 host UL-Lafayette 6-4. It’s the third win in a row for the Green Wave. The loss marks the first time the Ragin’ Cajuns have fallen in consecutive games this season.

Two people died, a Crowley Police Officer was shot and K-9 cop killed in an officer-involved shooting last night. KATC reports Crowley PD responded to a scene where a man had apparently shot and killed a woman then turned the gun on officers. That’s when the K-9 was killed and human officer injured. A measure has been filed for the legislative session that would require driver’s education courses to provide training on how a driver should act when stopped by a police officer. Bossier City Senator Ryan Gatti says he was approached by former NFL star Demetric Evans, of Haynesville,  to file the measure after brainstorming the idea to add a driver courtesy component to driver’s education.

Gatti says the issue of anxiety when being pulled over is one everyone faces. He says it’s best to know how to properly handle the situation so both the driver and law enforcement officer stay safe.

Gatti says the etiquette component would add a few hours to the course to demonstrate how both the motorist and officer should act during a traffic stop.

Ten-year-old Julianna Gouthiere (Go-thee-ay) donated 150 stuffed animals to the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office so patrol deputies can give them to children coping with traumatic events. She says she got the idea when her mom told her about an accident she’d been in more than 25 years ago.
