Four-star quarterback prospect Lowell Narcisse announced on Twitter that he has committed to play college football at LSU. In the 2017 recruiting class, Narcisse is rated as the top dual-threat QB in the country and listed as one of the best players overall by ESPN. The St. James star originally committed to Auburn, but decommitted in January. Narcisse suffered two injuries last year and only played in three games during his junior season.

One of the Saints five draft picks is a running back. New Orleans selected Daniel Lasco in the seventh round. Lasco played for Sonny Dykes at California and New Orleans General Manager Mickey Loomis believes Lacsco could be a good special teams performer…

After several long rain delays, the Zurich Classic of New Orleans finally crowned a winner today as Brian Stuard beat Jamie Lovemark on the second hole of a playoff. It’s Stuard’s first win on the PGA Tour. Stuard didn’t record a single bogey during the tournament, which was shortened to 54 holes because of all of the rain.

The LSU Tigers are falling in the major college baseball polls after dropping two of three from Ole Miss. Baseball America has the Tigers ranked 13th, D-1 Baseball has the Bayou Bengals ranked 17th. LSU doesn’t play again until Friday, because of finals week. The Tigers will host Arkansas this weekend.

Elsewhere…UL Lafayette is in second place in the Sun Belt after taking two of three from UT-Arlington. Tulane is also in second place in the American Athletic Association. Louisiana Tech is in fifth place in Conference USA, after winning two of three from Texas-San Antonio. Southeastern swept Houston Baptist and is still in first place in the Southland. and Grambling leads the western division of the SWAC.

The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s office says they’ve made an arrest in the death of a 16-year-old Kenner girl who was found dead in a ditch in St. Rose. The man arrested is Daniel Beckley and he’s been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Jorian White. Beckley is the longtime boyfriend of the victim’s mother. Investigators say Beckley was the last known adult to see White alive.

Cleco utility customers can expect a $475 credit on their bills beginning in July, as a result of the Pineville-based company’s sale to foreign investors. Cleco spokesperson Jennifer Cahill says the Louisiana Public Service Commission created this credit as a part of their transaction.

State Education Superintendent John White, says that’s almost a 3-percent increase over the previous year, which is the second largest annual gain in 10 years. He believes more students are graduating, because educators raised the bar.

White says this achievement continues a trend since 2012 when BESE implemented policy changes that includes the start of the Jump Start program which prepares students for technical careers and the expansion of the Advanced Placement program. He says this graduating class also participated in education classes prior to kindergarten.

Covington Police Chief Tim Lentz says it’s time law enforcement changes the way they do business…:

Lentz says this program would provide addicts with the help they need, without fear of being arrested. He says chemically dependent people would need to surrender any drugs they have, then they’ll be escorted by an “angel” to walk them through the recovery process at Giving Hope Retreat in Lacombe…:

An arrest warrant has been obtained for the boyfriend of the mother of 16-year-old Jorion White of Kenner — whose body was found in a drainage ditch in St. Charles Parish on April 24th. He says the agency indicated in decision that the impact from the event is not of the severity and magnitude that warrants a major disaster declaration.

The state Department of Education says Louisiana’s high school graduation rate is at an all time high at 77.5 percent in 2015. They say that’s a 2.9 percent growth from the previous year.

The bottom half of the state remains under a flash flood watch through this evening. The National Weather Service says rainfall amounts of two to four inches is possible in the watch areas, with locally higher amounts possible.

The LSU AgCenter has developed an eye-drop to prevent and treat cataracts. Professor Cristina Sabliov (sab-lee-of) says lutein (loo-teen) is currently prescribed as an oral treatment for cataracts, but she says LSU AgCenter researchers have developed a solution to drop it directly into your eyes…:

Governor John Bel Edwards has formed a task force to come up with budget reform recommendations, as the state grapples with a $600 million dollar shortfall. Council for a Better Louisiana President Barry Erwin is on the task force and says it’s key that any revenue raising measure that could be passed in a second special session doesn’t further hurt the state economy…:

The Saints 2016 draft class consists of five players. Fourth round pick, defensive tackle David Onyemata (On-yeh-ma-tah), has the most unique story. He’s the first player ever drafted from the University of Manitoba, which is in Canada. Onyemata grew up in Nigeria and saw a football for a first time five years ago. New Orleans General Manager Mickey Loomis says several clubs were interested in drafting the 6-foot-4, 300-pounder…

They played into early Sunday morning in Sulphur to complete the Fastpitch 56 state softball championships. When it was all said and done, Alexandria Senior High won the 5A title, North DeSoto claimed the four-a championships, Kaplan is the three-a champs.

The program will be called “Healthy Louisiana” as the state seeks to improve health outcomes for the poor and uninsured.

Council for a Better Louisiana President Barry Erwin is on the task force and says they will be looking at corporate and personal income taxes to see if enough revenue can be raised by removing some exemptions and deductions…:

ULM students are getting together today to collectively email lawmakers expressing concerns about the future of higher education in the face of possible budget cuts. The governor’s proposed budget calls for a 183-million dollar cut to TOPS, and this is an opportunity for people to make their voice heard. Most of southeast Louisiana is under a flash flood watch until 7pm today. Forecasters say rainfall amounts of 2-4 inches with isolated 6+ are possible, especially south of I-10. This wet weather is hitting already saturated soils which could lead to quick flooding.

A teenager from Rapides Parish was killed in a high speed crash in Rapides Parish. State Police say troopers responded around 12:15 am Sunday and determined that 18-year-old Guillermo Maldonado-Ramos was speeding when he exited the road and smashed into a culvert. He was pronounced dead.

Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser is traveling the state this week to get the word out about National Tourism Week. He says in 2015 nearly 29-million people visited the state, which was a record, but…:
