DNA results have confirmed that a teacher in Plaquemine accused of having a sexual relationship with three students, has fathered a 15-year-old student’s child. Thirty year-old Keavin Keith was arrested earlier this week, but Iberville Parish Sheriff Brett Stassi says no new additional charges are in the works…

Coast Guard officials say all 28 workers have been evacuated after a fire broke out on an oil production platform off the Louisiana coast. They say the fire broke out early this morning near Breton Island. All people on the rig were taken to Venice and no injuries have been reported. The well was shut in and production on the rig has ceased. Officials have observed a light sheen of oil near the platform.

LSU’s bullpen came through again last night as the Fighting Tigers topped Arkansas 10 to 5 to advance to the semifinals of the SEC Tournament. Russell Reynolds was the winning pitcher as he threw 3.1 innings of shutout baseball. Jesse Stallings, Hunter Newman and Zac Person also pitched scorless innings of relief. LSU needed to lean on the pen again last night, because starting pitcher Austin Bain was pulled in the second inning after giving up four runs. The Tigers will play again tomorrow against the winner of tonight’s game between Florida and Arkansas.

In the Sun Belt Tournament…U-L Lafayette takes on Texas-Arlington in an elimination game. In two games in the tournament, the Cajuns have scored 19 runs.

And the UL Lafayette softball team begins its best out of three super regional series against Auburn this afternoon. The Lady Cajuns are two wins away from their seventh appearance in the Women’s College World Series.

Golden State head coach Steve Kerr has confirmed that his assistant, Alvin Gentry, has interviewed with the Pelicans about their head coaching vacancy. Gentry has been a head coach before, most recently in Phoenix, where he went 158-144 in five seasons.

The Saints announce they’ve signed first round pick Andrus Peat to a four-year contract. The offensive tackle was selected with the 13th overall pick out of Stanford. Peat was named a first-team All-American by several news organizations last season and was an Outland Trophy semifinalist.

Also in the NFL…former Saints first round pick Reggie Bush, says he would like to return punts again this season. Bush recently signed with the San Francisco 49ers and hasn’t returned punts regularly since his final season in New Orleans in 2010.

29-year-old Luke Jarrod Hust has been arrested in the incident and charged with attempted first degree murder.

The Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office says DNA tests confirm that Keavin Keith, the teacher arrested for allegedly having sex with three of his students, did indeed father a child with one of the victim’s when she was 15-years-old. Keith is facing numerous counts of prohibited sexual contact between an educator and a student, indecent behavior with a juvenile, and felony carnal knowledge.

Many will hit the road for the Memorial Day weekend and Gasbuddy-dot-com says you’ll see the lowest gas prices since 2009. Although prices have risen over the past month, Senior Petroleum Analyst Gregg Laskoski doesn’t think there will be a huge increase in gas prices this summer. He says there is still a really significant inventory of gasoline and that’s good news for motorists…

On a 65-37 vote, the state House approved a 24-billion dollar budget for next fiscal year. A politically charged amendment was added to the budget during the debate that would require the governor’s office to pay for troopers when Jindal makes out-of-state campaign trips, not State Police. Monroe Representative Katrina Jackson is in full support…

Alexandria Police say an argument between a couple resulted in shots being fired. They say a woman told officers that she and her ex-boyfriend, 23-year-old Bruce Cooper, were involved in an argument when he hit her in the face. The victim says she then busted out the windows of his vehicle. She says Cooper then fired several shots into her vehicle. Cooper is charged with assault by drive-by shooting.

The Department of Wildlife and Fisheries say an agent is in critical condition after being shot in the back in Ouachita Parish. They say 32-year-old Scott Bullitt and his partner were performing a routine traffic stop in the Russell Sage Wildlife Management Area when 29-year-old Luke Hust of Monroe pulled a gun. He shot Bullitt and fired shots at the other agent before fleeing into the woods. Hust was captured and booked on two counts of attempted first degree murder.

House Appropriations Chairman Jim Fannin says some agencies will also face cuts…
