In other NFL news…Saints Owner Tom Benson has donated 11-million dollars to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. It’s the largest gift by any individual in the 51-year history of the Hall.

And sports fans are still buzzing over former LSU Tiger Odell Beckham’s one-handed touchdown grab in last night’s game between the Giants and Cowboys. But it wasn’t enough as Dallas won to move into a tie into first place with Philadelphia.

The Ragin Cajuns had their six-game winning streak snapped on Saturday as Appalachian State knocked off U-L Lafayette 35-16 on Senior Day. Quarterback Terrance Broadway did not have a good performance in his final game at Cajun Field. The senior from Baton Rouge threw for only 160 yards and he was held to two yards rushing. Coach Mark Hudspeth gives a lot of credit to the Mountaineers defense…

U-L Lafayette wraps up the regular season on Saturday with an 11:30 AM kick-off against Troy.

The S-L-U Lions are the only team from Louisiana to make the F-C-S playoffs. Southeastern will face Southland rival Sam Houston State this Saturday in the first round.

In college hoops action today…LSU faces Clemson in the Paradise Jam Classic. And U-L Lafayette will take on Milwaukee in Las Vegas.

The Ragin Cajuns fell out of a tie for first place in the Sun Belt Conference as they lost to Appalachian State 35-16 Saturday at Cajun Field. The Mountaineers dominated at the line of scrimmage, rushing for 232 yards. Cajuns Coach Mark Hudspeth says his defense got away from its gap responsibilities…

Terrance Broadway did not have a good performance in his final game at Cajun field. The senior from Baton Rouge threw for only 160 yards and he was held to two yards rushing.

Southeastern Louisiana found out they’re in the FCS playoffs. They’ll play Sam Houston State in Huntsville, TX Saturday afternoon. Kickoff is scheduled for 1PM and you can watch on ESPN3.

And ULM ended a six game losing streak by downing New Mexico State, 30-17.

Louisiana Tech dropped its first league game of the season as they lost to Old Dominion 30-27 in overtime Saturday. Tech led 24-14 at halftime, but failed to score a touchdown the rest of the way. Bulldogs Coach Skip Holtz says it was a disappointing second half

Tech will wrap up its regular season this Saturday against Rice. The winner will advance to the C-USA Championship game against Marshall.

New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham, Jr. made an unbelievable one-handed 43-yard touchdown grab from Eli Manning last night that many are calling the catch of the year. But the former LSU Tiger’s effort was not enough as the Dallas Cowboys came from behind to win the game 31-28.

The Saints are in action tonight as they take on the Baltimore Ravens. A win puts New Orleans atop the NFC South.

After back-to-back losses to the Bengals and 49ers the Saints will go after a much needed win on Monday against the Baltimore Ravens. You have to go back to 2005, to find the last time New Orleans lost three straight games at home.

Nicholls State named U-L Lafayette assistant coach Tim Rebowe as its new head football coach this morning. The Colonels just completed a winless season, as they lost 62-3 to Southeastern Louisiana last night.

The win for the Lions gives them at least a share of the Southland Crown. It’s the first back-to-back league titles for S-L-U since 1961.

McNeese State is hoping for an at-large berth in the FCS playoffs and they need a win Saturday at Lamar. Cowboys Coach Matt Viator says it would be a big game, even if a playoff berth wasn’t at stake…

The second round of the high school football playoffs are tonight…In Division one…top-seeded John Curtis will host Evangel Chrisitan. It’s the eighth consecutive season these two traditional powers have met in the postseason. In Four-A…21st seeded Peabody pulled off the upset over Minden last week, can they do it again tonight? They host 5th seeded Warren Easton. The LHSAA game of the Week is Karr versus North Desoto. Karr is seeking its fifth straight appearance in a championship game.

In college football action…Louisiana Tech can win the West division of Conference USA with a win over Old Dominion tomorrow. U-L Lafayette’s game against Appalachian State has been moved up to one o’ clock, because of the threat severe weather.

In college basketball…LSU battles Old Dominion at the Paradise Jam Classic in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. ULM, who is off to a 2-and-0 start, and will visit 8th ranked Florida. The Ragin Cajuns take on Auburn at 8 PM.

In the NBA, the Pelicans continue their road trip at Denver.

UL Lafayette has announced this Saturday’s football game against Appalachian State will kick-off at 1 PM. The start time has been moved up three hours, because of potential of severe weather late saturday afternoon and Saturday night. You can watch the game on ESPN 3.

Tonight is the regular season finale for Nicholls State and Southeastern Louisiana as the two teams battle for the River Bell Classic trophy. Southeastern Louisiana can earn a share of the Southland conference championship with a win. S-L-U is known for putting a lot of points on the board, but Colonels interim head coach Steve Axman says he’s just as impressed with the Lions defense…

Louisiana Tech leaves tomorrow for Norfolk, Virginia where they’ll play Old Dominion on Saturday. The Bulldogs are undefeated in league play and can clinch the west division in Conference USA with a victory. Kick-off is at noon and the game can be seen on Fox College sports.

Northwestern State, the last team to beat Louisiana Tech, is at Stephen F Austin. The Demons are still hopeful for an at-large spot in the F-C-S playoffs. So is McNeese State who hosts Lamar in a rivalry game. ULM is at New Mexico State and Tulane travels to East Carolina.

Grambling State first year head coach Broderick Fobbs is one of 20 finalists for the 2014 Eddie Robinson Award, which is presented to the top coach in the FCS. The Tigers are 7-1 in the SWAC.

ULM has announced they’ve raised five-point-five million dollars in the last eight months for its athletic programs. The Warhawks plan on building a new end zone facility, renovating the weight room inside Malone Stadium and the compleition of a hitting facility for the baseball team is in its final stages.

When asked if true freshman Brandon Harris will play a week from today against Texas A-and-M, LSU Coach Les Miles said he’s not ready to say. On his radio show, Miles says the quarterback that will play is the one that gives the team the best chance to win, but the difference between Harris and Anthony Jennings is becoming closer.

This Saturday U-L Lafayette looks for its seventh straight win as they host Appalachian State. Ragin Cajuns Quarterback Terrance Broadway is just 73 total yards away from passing Jake Delhomme for first place on the school’s total offense leaders list.

And tonight it’s the River Bell Classic as Nicholls State hosts Southeastern Louisiana in the regular season finale. S-L-U is eight-and-3 overall, while the Colonels are winless, but Lions Coach Ron Roberts says anything can happen in a rivalry game…

The Saints return to the practice field today as they get ready for Monday night’s match-up against the Baltimore Ravens. New Orleans has reportedly added Jalen Saunders to their roster. He’s a wide receiver and punt returner, a former fourth round pick of the Jets and was on Seattle’s practice squad when the Saints signed him. One other note, Quarterback Drew Brees has never defeated the Ravens in three previous meetings.

In the NBA, the Pelicans are off tonight. Through ten games this season, New Orleans is 6-and-4 and they’ll visit four and seven Denver tomorrow night.

Last night in the Association, former LSU Tiger Brandon Bass had 23 points as Boston beat Philadelphia 101-90. The 76ers are 0-and-11.

In college hoops action tonight…Southern is at Ole Miss, Tulane hosts Mississppi Valley State. U-N-O is at TCU. Nicholls State is at UCLA. The Colonels lost their season opener to North Texas on Monday, while the Bruins are off to a 2-and-0 start. Northwestern State visits LSU-Alexandria and Grambling faces Purdue.

Nice win for the LSU men’s basketball team last night as they rallied to beat Texas Tech 69-64 in overtime. The Tigers trailed by 12 points at halftime, and scored four points in four and half-seconds in the final minute to tie the game. Jordan Mickey and Jarrell Martin led the way for LSU with double-doubles. Martin had 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Mickey had 18 points and 14 boards.

Also last night….McNeese state walloped Louisiana College 90 to 63. Austin Lewis set a new school record with 11 blocked shots. Also last night,. Grambling defeated Lyon College 55-49.

Anthony Davis had 28 points to help the Pelicans beat Sacramento 106-100 last night. Davis also had nine rebounds and three blocked shots. Ryan Anderson contributed 22 points off the bench as he hit four three-pointers. The Pels four-game road trip continues Friday in Denver.

Baton Rouge police have arrested two men in connection with the shooting death of West. St. John High School football coach Juan Joseph. 25-year-old Kendric Lentrell Cloud, who is accused of shooting Joseph, turned himself in last night and was booked on a second degree murder charge. 25-year-old Lemark Cloud, the alleged getaway driver, is charged with accessory to second-degree murder among other charges. Authorities say the two men are cousins.

New Orleans heads into the final six games of the season with a 4-and-6 record, but still tied for first place in the NFC South. Former LSU Quarterback Zach Mettenberger looked good in last night’s Monday night football game, despite throwing a pick six on his first pass of the night. Mettenberger rebounded to throw for 263 yards and two touchdowns, but his Titans still lost to the Steelers 27-24.
