Ingram is averaging six yards a carry this season and has scored three touchdowns. The Saints seek their first win of the season this Sunday against the Vikings. Payton says mental errors are the reason why the Black and Gold are off to an 0-and-2 start.

Former Saints running back Darren Sproles looked good last night as he helped the Eagles come from behind to beat the Colts 30 to 27. Sproles had seven catches for 152 yards and a 19-yard touchdown run.

The intensity should be up a notch or two this week at practice as the LSU Tigers dive into SEC play this Saturday against Mississippi State. Coach Les Miles on Saturday’s match-up….

Miles says linebackers Kwon Alexander and Lamar Louis will start against the Bulldogs after sitting out the ULM game with injuries.

In Ruston, Louisiana Tech head coach Skip Holtz says junior defensive lineman Malcolm Pichon has been suspended indefinitely and defensive end Vontarrius Dora will miss Saturday’s game against Northwestern State because of a foot injury.

Demons quarterback Zach Adkins has been named the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Offensive Player of the week. Adkins completed a school-record 19 straight passes in Saturday’s win over Southern.

No. 8 LSU expects Saturday will be their biggest challenge of the season as they face unbeaten Mississippi State in Tiger Stadium. The Tigers have allowed opposing QBs just a 40 percent completion rate for 94 yards a game but The Bulldogs have scored at least 35 points in three season-opening victories. The game kicks off at 6pm.

The Louisiana Sports Writers Association has named Northwestern State Quarterback Zach Adkins the offisive player of the week. He had 19 straight completions in a win over Southern last weekend. Nico Marley of Tulane got defensive honors and Special teams player of the week went to Daniel Cadona of Louisiana-Lafayette.

The Minnesota Vikings have reistated running back Adrian Peterson despite child abuse charges. The indictment has opened up a nationwide discussion on disciplining children with corporal punishment. Eric Gill has more…:

The Saints are 0-and-2 and now it looks like their leading rusher will miss the next four weeks of the season, because of a broken hand. ESPN is reporting running back Mark Ingram hurt his hand in yesterday’s 26-24 loss against Cleveland. When asked about it today, Coach Sean Payton said he nothing to report now on the injury. Ingram rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown against the Browns.

New Orleans will look for win number one on the season this Sunday against Minnesota. The Vikings said today that running back Adrian Peterson will play. Peterson sat out Minnesota’s loss to New England yesterday after he was charged with child abuse. Peterson released a statement today saying that without a doubt, he’s not a child abuser. Peterson admits to injuring his child, but that was not his intention when he disciplined his son.

In the latest AP Top 25 poll, the LSU Tigers are ranked eighth. Florida State is number one, followed by Alabama at three, Auburn at five and Texas A-and-M at six.

LSU’s offense got off to a slow start on Saturday in the Tigers 31-to-0 win over over ULM, but still ended up rushing for 219 yards. Sophomore wide receiver Travin Dural caught six passes, but the former Breaux Bridge standout says the offense has a long way to go…

Coach Les Miles said today that Ellliot Porter will start at center again this Saturday, even though Ethan Pocic, who started the first two games of the season at center, is healthy enough to play.

The Ragin Cajuns top wide receiver, Jamal Robinson, will reportedly miss the next four weeks of the season because of a lower leg injury. Robinson also missed Saturday’s blowout loss to Ole Miss.

And Nicholls State head coach Charlie Stubbs has resigned, citing health issues. The Colonels have lost nine straight games, dating back to last year.

Saints fans thought this was the year for the Black and Gold to return to the Super Bowl. But New Orleans is 0-and-2 after suffering a heart breaking 26-24 loss to the Cleveland Browns yesterday. For the second straight game, New Orleans couldn’t preserve a late lead. Coach Sean Payton says all they could do at this point is work on becoming a better team

Payton was spotted arguing with defensive coordinator Rob Ryan in the final minutes of the fourth quarter, but in his post-game press conference, Payton downplayed the exchange.

Elsewhere in the NFC South, Carolina improved to 2-and-0 with a 24 to 7 win over Detroit, Cincinnati clobbered Atlanta 24 to 10. Former LSU Tiger Jeremy Hill had a touchdown run for the Bengals and Tampa Bay is 0-and-2 after losing at home to St. Louis 19 to 17.

The LSU Tigers are up to number eight in both the A-P and coaches college football polls. Five of the top ten teams in each ranking are from the SEC West. The Tigers host Mississippi State this Saturday at six P-M.

Nicholls State lost their ninth straight game on Saturday dating back to last year and on Sunday head coach Charlie Stubbs announced he’s stepping down and cited health reasons for his decision. Chuck Hepola will serve as interim coach.

The ULM Warhawks head to Baton Rouge on Saturday as heavy underdogs. The 10th ranked Bayou Bengals are favored to win by 31 points in the recently expanded Tiger Stadium. Go Bulldogs! Louisiana Tech is looking hot so far this season as they put together another nice win last night trouncing North Texas 42-21. That puts the Bulldogs at 2-1 on the year now heading into their game against in-state rival Northwestern State next Saturday.

The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs put together another impressive performance last night in a 42 to 21 win at North Texas. Cody Sokol threw for 243 yards and five touchdowns . Two of the TD passes went to Paul Turner. Kenneth Dixon rushed for 75 yards and a touchdown. Tech’s defense didn’t give up a touchdown until the third quarter.

The Saints defense is looking to rebound from a poor performance against Atlanta when they visit the Cleveland Browns this Sunday. Safety Jairus Byrd says they’ve spent this week working on fundamentals….

Meanwhile former Saints cornerback Jabari Greer has announced his retirement. Greer had a 10-year career in the NFL and won a Super Bowl with the Saints.

The LSU Board of Supervisors meets today and they are expected to extend Athletic Director Joe Alleva’s contract through 2019. Alleva’s base pay will remain at $725,000 a year plus incentives. Tomorrow night….LSU will host ULM. It’s the third ever meeting between the two schools on the football field. That’s not the only match-up involving instate teams. The Lions are 2-and-0, while the Green Wave is 0-and-2.

LSU football Coach Les Miles expects Tigers wide receiver Travin Dural to play Saturday night against ULM. Dural was involved in a minor car wreck following last Saturday’s game. The Breaux Bridge native needed stitches on his forehead, which caused a problem with putting his helmet on. But Miles says those issues have been resolved.

Saints wide receiver Kenny Stills was limited at practice for a second day in a row, because of a quad injury. But linebacker Curtis Lofton and cornerback Keenan Lewis participated fully today, after they were limited yesterday. Also, former Saints cornerback Jabari Greer announced his retirement. Greer was a member of the Saints Super Bowl team and played 10 years in the league.

USA Basketball has advanced to the gold medal game of the FIBA Championships in Spain. The United States defeated Lithuania 96 to 68. After a slow start, Pelicans star Anthony Davis had eight points, six rebounds and two blocked shots.

The Lady Techsters women ‘s basketball schedule was released today. First-year head coach Tyler Summit is disappointed they only have 11 home games this year.

Former Saints cornerback Jabari Greer announced his retirement today on ESPN’s “First Take.” Greer was a member of the Saints Super bowl team, but he was released by the Black and Gold last February. Greer suffered a knee injury during the middle of last season and ended the year on the Saints injured reserve list.

After practice Wednesday, LSU Head Coach Les Miles said leading receiver Travin Dural will play in the ULM game Saturday despite an injury from a car accident last weekend. Miles called it a soft tissue injury to Dural’s forehead but he was back running around yesterday with his helmet on.

The Saints are getting ready to face the Cleveland Browns this Sunday. The Browns were the talk of the preseason, because of Johnny Manziel, but he was beat out by Brian Hoyer. New Orleans Coach Sean Payton says Hoyer played well in the second half last week..:

The Ray Rice saga continues. Yesterday afternoon an AP source came out and said that NFL executives were sent the Rice elevator domestic battery video back in April. Commissioner Goodell told CBS this week that he saw it for the first time Monday.
