Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis confirmed starting quarterback Derek Carr has a shoulder injury and they are waiting on Clarity. In his pre-draft press conference, Loomis refused to answer any other questions about Carr. Loomis did say they are picking up the fifth-year option on wide receiver Chris Olave, which keeps him with the Black and Gold through 2026. But they are NOT exercising their option on right tackle Trevor Penning, so he’ll be a free agent after this season.

Former LSU and Neville High football star Will Campbell will become the second Tiger offensive lineman to be selected in the first round of the NFL draft tonight. Campbell was a three-year starter at left tackle for LSU and he told KNOE-TV sports that he’s eager to find out where he’ll start his professional career…

Alan Faneca is the only other former LSU offensive lineman selected in the first round when he was the 26th overall pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Usually, it’s the LSU baseball team that is run ruling midweek opponents, but last night Northwestern State left Baton Rouge with a run rule victory as they upset the seventh ranked Tigers 13 to 3 in seven innings. Braden Benton hit a three-run homer in a six-run third inning as Northwestern took advantage of three errors by the Tigers and LSU pitching walked four and hit four batters.

Big upset in Lake Charles last nigth as Louisiana Christian, a division three school, defeated McNeese four to three. The Cowboys will look to regroup in Rio Grande Valley as they will play U-T-R-G-V this weekend.

Grambling at U-L Lafayette, Nicholls versus Southern and  ULM softball versus Grambling were all rained out.

Tonight…La Tech hosts ULM, the Cajuns host Nicholls, Southeastern is at 22nd ranked at Southern Miss.

The 62-year-old Joe Dumars says he had a good job working for the NBA in Manhattan. But the Natchitoches native has returned to Louisiana, and he was introduced yesterday as the Pelicans new executive vice president of basketball operations. Dumars says the Pelicans front office job was right place, at the right time…

It’s expected Dumars will keep Willie Green as head coach, but what he’ll do with Zion Williamson is a big question. Will he try to trade the former number one pick who is injured often.

LSU women’s basketball guard Miracle Sheppard has entered the transfer portal after averaging four points a game last season.

The seventh ranked LSU baseball team is undefeated in midweek games and tonight they host Northwestern State. The Tigers are coming off a series victory over Alabama, while the Demons won a series last week against Lamar.

The Ragin Cajuns begin a five-game week tonight by taking on Grambling, who has won seven in a row. U-L Lafayette is coming off a series win over Old Dominion, winning the final game of the series 10 to nothing. Maddox Mandino from Minden led off the game and had three hits. Coach Matt Deggs plans to put Mandino in the lead off spot again tonight…

ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting the Saints really like Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart and could look to trade their second round pick, plus other picks to move back into the first round and draft Dart late in the first round after taking an offensive or defensive lineman with the ninth overall pick.

The ULM softball team leads the Sun Belt after sweeping Georgia Southern. The Brown twin sisters, Morgan and Meagan, are leading the Warhawks offensively. They are both hitting around .400 on the season. Coach Molly Fichtner says they push each other, and it makes the whole team better…

The seventh ranked LSU baseball team resumes its nine-game homestand tonight by hosting Northwestern State. The Tigers are 34-7, while the Demons are 24-17. LSU is coming off a series victory over Alabama, while Northwestern took two of three from Lamar. First pitch from the Box is at 6:30.

The Cajuns begin a five game week by hosting Grambling. The Tigers have won seven in a row, U-L Lafayette is four games under the five-hundred mark.

McNeese hosts Louisiana Christian, while Nicholls is at Southern.

D1 Baseball has LSU ranked seventh in the country.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting the Saints are looking to move up in the second round to pick a quarterback, possibly Jaxson Dart from Ole Miss. Schefter points out New Orleans has two third and fourth round picks, which can be used to move up from the 40th overall pick. Schefter says if the Saints do not select a quarterback with the ninth overall pick, they will select an offensive and defensive lineman.

The Ragin Cajuns baseball team plays five games at home this week after going on the road last weekend taking two of three from Old Dominion. Coach Matt Deggs team is 19 and 23 heading into tomorrow night’s game against Grambling…

Grambling is playing really well, they’ve won seven in a row after sweeping Alcorn State.

Lafayette native and former LSU track star Mondo Duplantis has been named the 2025 Laureus World Sportsman of the Year. It’s considered one of the biggest prizes in sports. The only other track and field athlete to win the award was Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt. Duplantis won his second gold medal at the Olympic games last year and he’s broken his own pole vault world record three times since the last award ceremony.

LSU moved up two spots in the latest D-1 Baseball Top 25 poll to number seven. The Tigers will host sixth ranked Tennessee this weekend.

LSU Shreveport is ranked number one in NAIA as they have won every game this regular season. The Pilots are 44-0 after sweeping 15th ranked Houston-Victoria. L-S-U-S wraps up the regular season at Jarvis Christian this weekend.

ULM softball is in first place in the Sun Belt after sweeping Georgia Southern. The Warhawks are 22-0 at home this year and will host Grambling tomorrow.

After taking two of three from Liberty, the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs are 10-4 in Conference USA, a half a game back of Western Kentucky and Dallas Baptist, who are tied for first in the league. Coach Lane Burroughs expects a tight race for the regular season championship…

This week for LSU, they host Northwestern State on Tuesday and then welcome the defending national champs to the Box as fourth ranked Tennessee and the Tigers being a series on Friday. Tennessee dropped a series to Kentucky over the weekend, scoring just three runs in the final two games of the series.

The Ragin Cajuns won a pair of extra inning games at Old Dominion to win the series two games to one. ULM lost a series to 20th ranked Troy, the Warhawks avoided a sweep by beating the Trojans seven to three.

 

Louisiana Tech won its sixth straight series as the Bulldogs defeated Liberty four to three on Saturday. Tech also won a one-run game on Thursday and dropped a five-to-three decision on Friday night. Coach Lane Burroughs….

Former Ruston High and Louisiana Tech pitcher Cade Gibson made his Major League debut yesterday with the Miami Marlins. Gibson pitched 2.1 innings and allowed one hit, no runs and struck out two. Miami beat the Phillies seven to five in ten innings.

LSU-Shreveport set an N-A-I-A record for longest winning streak in history as they won their 42nd straight game last night, Houston Victoria 11 to 1. Austin Gomm drove in five runs as the Pilots improved to 42-0.

The Ragin Cajuns won in extra innings on Thursday night, but Old Dominion responded with a walk-off win over U-L Lafayette on Friday as the Monarchs won six to five. The Cajuns committed three errors and the final run was unearned.

ULM lost to 20th ranked Troy 11 to 1. Liberty knocked off Louisiana Tech five to three. Texas A-and-M Corpus Christi topped McNeese 13 to 5. Clay Jung hit a walk-off RBI double as Northwestern State defeated Lamar two to one in ten innings.  Stephen F Austin defeated Nicholls seven to five, Southeastern Louisiana clobbered UT Rio Grande Valley 12 to one and Grambling over Alcorn State 22 to 7.

ULM softball rallied back from a three-run deficit to beat Georgia Southern nine to six to improve to 21-and-0 at home. Ninth ranked LSU softball defeated third ranked Texas six to one. Tori Edwards hit her 16 home run of the season.

The Ninth ranked LSU baseball team will try to win its 20th straight home game tonight as they host 15th ranked Alabama. Last night the Tigers rallied from a four-run deficit to beat Alabama 11 to 6. Ashton Larson in just his second SEC at bat of the season, blasted a three-run homer to cut the deficit to one. Steven Milam’s also hit a three-run home run to give LSU the lead for good.

ULM softball is now 20-and-0 at home after beating Georgia Southern one to nothing last night. Victoria Abrams pitched a complete game shutout. The Warhawks are in second place, a game out of first place.

LSU Shreveport is trying to improve to 42-and-0 today as they host 15th ranked Houston Victoria.

In the NFL…Ryan Ramczyk is calling it a career at the age of 30. He was a three-time All-Pro tackle for the Saints. His career cut short because of a knee injury.

Tough ending to the season for LSU gymnastics as they failed to reach the NCAA Championship Finals. The Tigers had a shaky performance in the semis and needed to finish in the top two in last night’s session, but they finished third. It turned out to be the final meet for Haleigh Bryant, who goes down as the best gymnast in LSU history. The five-time SEC champ and last year’ s national all-around champion says it’s hard to say good-bye

Three Louisiana baseball teams had great come from behind victories last night. The Fighting Tigers trailed five to one to Alabama, but Ashton Larson and Steven Milam each hit three-run home runs and the Tigers won 11 to 6 at Alex Box Stadium.

The ULM softball team improved to 20-0 at home with a 1 to nothing win over Georgia Southern.

The top ranked LSU gymnastics team falls short of reaching the NCAA Championships as they struggled to hit on many of their routines in the semifinals and will not have a chance at defending its title. Coach Jay Clark says a great season ends in disappointment
