The Saints will now need to find a veteran to serve as primary backup to Derek Carr. So far New Orleans has been quiet in free agency, while other teams are signing players.

Saints defensive tackle Malcolm Roach has signed with the Denver Broncos. The Baton Rouge native spent four seasons in New Orleans, appearing in 41 games as a rotational defensive tackle.

Former LSU star Patrick Queen is leaving the Baltimore Ravens for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Queen has reportedly agreed on a three-year, 41 million dollar contract. And the Saints are a one of few teams interested in meeting with free agent pass rusher Chase Young.

The second ranked LSU softball team remained unbeaten today with a seven to four win over third ranked Texas. Kelley Lynch had a huge bases clearing double in a five run first inning and Sydney Berzon was the winning pitcher.

In college baseball today….LSU hosts North Dakota State, ULM faces Ole Miss at Lou St. Amant Field and Louisiana Tech travels to Northwestern State.

One of LSU’s most popular athletes will likely compete for the final time on the LSU campus Friday night. Olivia Dunne and the 2nd ranked LSU gymnastics squad host North Carolina for Senior night. Dunne only competed in four meets last year because of injuries, but she says a more focused approach to all of her responsibilities has led to better results

Quarterback Jameis Winston is leaving New Orleans for Cleveland. Winston has reportedly signed a one-year, eight million dollar contract with the Browns to serve as the backup quarterback to Deshaun Watson. The 30-year-old Winston has spent the last four seasons with the Saints. This past season he only completed 53-percent of his passes for 264 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions.

The Saints have yet to sign any free agents, but they’ve added another year to linebacker Demario Davis contract. The 12-year NFL vet and team captain has signed a two-year contract with New Orleans. Davis was a Pro-Bowl selection last season.

The Atlanta Falcons have been busy. They’ve agreed to a four-year contract with quarterback Kirk Cousins, giving the Dirty Birds an upgrade at the Q-B position. Atlanta has also reportedly signed receiver Darnell Mooney to a three-year, 39-million dollar contract. The former Tulane star is coming off a down year in Chicago.

The second ranked LSU baseball team will get ready for the start of SEC play by hosting North Dakota State over the next two days. The Bison are just 3-and-11 on the season.

ULM will host Ole Miss tonight. The Warhawks are coming off a sweep over Alabama A-and-M. Northwestern State will host Louisiana Tech.

At the Southland Conference men’s basketball tournament last night, Lamar eliminated UNO 71 to 57. Top seeded McNeese will face Lamar at 5:30 today. Nicholls defeated Texas A-and-M Commerce 72 to 52. The Colonels get Texas A-and-M Corpus Christi at 8 PM in Lake Charles.

Friday night it’s Senior Night for the 2nd ranked LSU gymnastics squad. Olivia Dunne will be recognized during senior night activities and the 21-year-old, who battled injuries last year, admits this has been her favorite year….

The third ranked LSU softball team is undefeated headed into today’s huge matchup with top ranked Texas. The Longhorns lead the nation in hitting and they rank fifth in team team ERA. First pitch is at 11 AM.

The Saints have added another year to linebacker Demario Davis’ contract. The 35-year-old made his second straight Pro Bowl last year. Meanwhile, linebacker Zack Baun is leaving the Saints as he’s reportedly signed with the Eagles. New Orleans is interested in signing Eagles cornerback Avonte Maddox.

Olivia Dunne’s time as an LSU gymnast is likely coming to an end. She will be recognized during Senior night ceremonies when the second ranked Tigers take on North Carolina on Friday night. Last summer, Dunne started the Livvy fund, to help other LSU female athletes land NIL deals with some of the top brands. She’s proud of the legacy she’s leaving behind

LSU ended up losing in the SEC Tournament title game 79 to 72, but Coach Kim Mulkey feels good about her squad

Poa was taken off on a stretcher Saturday night after banging her head on the floor. Mulkey expects Poa to be ready for the NCAA Tournament which begins next week.

In the NFL, the Falcons have reportedly signed quarterback Kirk Cousins. And you can make a strong argument he’s best the quarterback in the NFC South. Meanwhile, the Saints have announced a new two-year contract with linebacker Demario Davis.

Louisiana Tech’s Isaiah Crawford was named Conference USA Player and Defensive Player of the Year today. Crawford is averaging 17 points a game and he’s helped the Bulldogs have one of the top defenses in the country.

The sports world is talking about the ending to the LSU-South Carolina SEC Tournament title game which saw both benches empty after South Carolina’s Kamilla Cardoso shoved Flau’Jae Johnson to the ground, after Johnson shoved another South Carolina player. After the game, Cardoso went on social media and apologized. LSU lost to the Gamecocks 79 to 72, but Angel Reese liked the fight her team showed….

The LSU men’s basketball team is the eighth seed in the SEC Tournament after finishing with a 9-9 record in league play. That’s a seven win improvement over last year and the Tigers will play Mississippi State at noon on Thursday.

Once again this season, LSU comes up a little short in knocking off top-ranked South Carolina as the Gamecocks defeated the defending national champs 79 to 72. The game was marred by a benches-clearing shoving match that erupted when South Carolina’s Kamilla Cardoso shoved Flau’jae Johnson to the ground after Johnson committed a foul on a Gamecocks player. Coach Kim Mulkey has this message for Cardoso…

The second-ranked LSU baseball team’s nine-game winning streak ended yesterday with a two-to-one loss to Xavier. The Tigers only had five hits, but the Tigers softball team is still undefeated after sweeping Kentucky.

The Ragin Cajuns baseball team took two of three from Tulane in exciting fashion. After losing the series opener 11-8, U-L Lafayette won in extra innings on Saturday, and on Sunday Kyle DeBarge hit a three-run walk-off homer in the ninth inning. Dan McDonald had the call on ESPN-plus…

Louisiana Tech snapped its three-game losing streak with an 18 to 11 win over Southern Miss. U-L-M swept Alabama A-and-M. Nicholls swept Grambling.

The Southland basketball tournament started last night…UNO upset Southeastern, and Northwestern State lost to Texas A-and-M Commerce.

At the boys basketball state championships…Avoyelles Charter won its second straight as the Vikings defeated J-S Clark 40-38. Zwolle also won its second in a row as the Hawks took down Anaccoco for the second straight year in the state title game. Wossman defeated Iowa 70-65 as Kyrstian Lewis had 25 points and Franklin won its first state title in 66 years with a 50-45 win over Lakeview.

The ninth ranked LSU Lady Tigers were determined to avoid the upset last night against Auburn. LSU scored the first 21 points of the game and went on to win 78-48. Flau-Jae Johnson had a season-high 25 points. LSU gets Ole Mis today at 6:00 in Greenville, South Carolina.

The Pelicans beat the 76ers 103 to 95. Zion Williamson had 23 points and 12 rebounds.

The second ranked LSU baseball got another great start from Luke Holman as they blanked Xavier 4 to nothing. Holman did not give up a hit through six innings and struck out ten. The Tigers face Xavier again today at 5 PM.

Louisiana Tech dropped its second straight as the Bulldogs lost to Southern Miss nine to four. Tulane outscored the Ragin Cajuns 11 to eight, ULM crushed Alabama A-and-M 11 to 1.

The LSU men’s basketball team closes out the regular season tonight as they will host Missouri at 7:30 PM. Mizzou has not won an SEC game and they are 0-17 in league play.

The Ragin Cajuns will begin the difficult task of trying to win three straight games in three days to repeat the Sun Belt Tournament. U-L Lafayette will play Arkansas State at 2 PM. The Cajuns beat the Red Wolves twice this season.

Louisiana Tech men’s basketball closes out the regular season against Middle Tennessee at 2 PM. The Bulldogs will be the two seed in the Conference USA tournament.

The Southland Conference men’s basketball tournament begins Sunday in Lake Charle tomorrow. Southeastern Louisiana battles UNO and Northwestern State takes on Texas A-and-M Commerce.

The LSU women’s basketball team takes on Auburn today in the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament. The Lady Tigers lost to Auburn on the Plains in January but beat the War Eagles at home last month. SEC Freshman of the Year Mikayla Williams is questionable for the tournament with a foot injury.

The Ragin Cajuns men’s basketball team has advanced to the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Tournament after beating Coastal Carolina 80 to 66 yesterday. U-L Lafayette will play Arkansas State tomorrow afternoon.

Louisiana Tech will not win a Conference USA regular season championship as they lost to Sam Houston for a second time this season last night, 72 to 66. The Bulldogs will conclude the regular season on Saturday against Middle Tennessee.

The second ranked LSU baseball team hosts Xavier this weekend. It’s the final non-conference three game series of the year. Louisiana Tech hosts Southern Miss, Tulane is at U-L Lafayette.

Saints safety Tyrann Mathieu has signed a two-year deal that will pay him 13-million dollars through the 2025 season. Mathieu was selected by the Saints as their nominee for the 2023 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year for his community service work. He’s also playing at a high level. In his two seasons in New Orleans, he’s started all 34 games and intercepted seven passes. But he wants to lead the Black and Gold to the playoffs

The LSU football team is in the first week of spring practice and one of the major storylines is Harold Perkins moving back to inside linebacker. The Tigers planned to play him at inside linebacker last season, but scrapped the idea after the season opening loss to Florida State. Coach Brian Kelly says they still believe Perkins can be most impactful as an inside backer…
