Jennings Police Chief Todd D’Albor says Sgt. Ricky Benoit put his life on the line for others when he was shot by a domestic abuse suspect and has never given up hope…:

He says the streets of Jennings were lined with well-wishers all the way to Benoit’s home which he has not seen since June 23rd.

A Slidell police detective has died days after crashing his Jeep and flipping the vehicle early Sunday morning. The passenger in the Jeep died on the scene. Troopers suspect the officer was drunk and not wearing his seatbelt. They say official John Cole passed away yesterday afternoon after a strong fight. Daniel Hanlon was the crash victim who died Sunday. Impairment is suspected on the part of Cole.

They say 53-year-old Angela Godley was discovered with at least one gunshot wound to the upper body. Cops confirm they are looking for 57-year-old Mark Colby who lived with the victim. He is a suspect in the case.

The US Department of Energy has given final approval for Sempra Energy to export liquefied natural gas (LNG) from its plant in Cameron Parish. With this, Sempra can begin construction to expand their facility near Hackberry. With the expansion, the Cameron plant will be capable of producing up to 12 million metric tons of LNG for export. A man is in a medially induced coma after deputies in Iberia Parish say he ingested a large amount of drugs in a house and was hiding during a search by cops.
