Two Iberia Parish teachers have been hailed as heroes during last night’s deadly shooting in a Lafayette movie theater (that killed 3 and injured nine). Authorities say Jena Meux and Ali Martin were both shot by John Houser, with one able to pull the fire alarm to alert authorites. There are internet postings coming out reportedly belonging to the gunman in last night’s Lafayette movie theater shooting which indicate he’s a fan of Adolf Hitler and calls the US a financially failing filth farm. Two women died and 9 others injured when 59-year-old John Houser opened fire shortly after the movie started. Lafayette Police Chief Jim Craft says Houser was arrested for arson in Georgia about 25 years ago and was denied a pistol permit in 2006…:

Two teachers are being hailed heroes in last night’s Lafayette movie theater shooing. They are Jena Meaux and Ali Martin from Jeanerette Senior High school. Governor Bobby Jindal says one of the teachers jumped in front of another and took the bullet before pulling a fire alarm to get the other movie patrons to safety. A GoFund Me account has been set up for their medical expenses which currently has nearly $12,000.

The two women who died in the shooting are identified as 21-year-old Mayci Breaux of Franklin and 33-year old Jillian Johnson of Lafayette. 9 others were injured including Breaux’s fiance according his employer. Officials say 7 of the victims remain hospitalized. Further details regarding those involved in the shooting are expected throughout the day.

West Monroe Police say a young girl has drowned in the Ohachita River along Lazzare Park Thursday night. They say four girls were swimming and encountered trouble…two made it out a third was rescued and the other went under. She is not being identified at this time.

West Monroe Police say a young girl has drowned in the Ouachita River. They say four girls were in the water along Lazarre Park. Authorities say two of the girls were able to make it to shore and a third girl was rescued by a passing boater. Unfortunately, one of the girls went under the water. The name nor the age of the deceased has not been released.
