Officials from St. Tammany Parish say the teen accused of stabbing to death a Slidell man lives at an Acadia Parish boys’ home. They say 17-year-old Clayton Maricle is accused of stabbing to death 20-year-old Nicolas Carmen 15 times Saturday night. The suspect is from Slidell, but at the time of the crime, he was on a furlough from the boys home in Branch which is in Acadia Parish. Maricle faces a sentence of life in prison if he is convicted of second-degree murder.

The American Automobile Association says you could see gas prices drop by as much as 15 cents over the next couple of weeks if the price of crude remains low. The current statewide average for a gallon of regular is $2.57.

Falling oil prices might be beneficial for motorists who have to fill up their vehicle on a regular basis, but it puts a strain on the state budget. Jeff Palermo has the story…:

The Baton Rouge Police Department says a man walked into one of their precincts last night and shot himself. They say the 52-year-old told cops he was going to committ suicide and BRPD was not sucessful in asking the man to stop. Police say the man shot himself in the upper torso and is currently in critical condition at a local hospital.

The family who was striving to keep their pit bill named Zeus in Moreauville will not have their dog taken away. The town council voted to lift their controversial “vicious dog” ordinance that would ban pit bulls and rottweilers from the town. Mayor Timmy Lemoine says they’re glad to get this issue behind them…:

The Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office says an 85-year-old Pollock woman, who was mauled by stray dogs last week, has succumbed to her injuries. Bobbie Chevallier was attacked by dogs last Wednesday as the was taking out the trash from her home. Authorities say there were no witnesses to the attack and Chevallier was found by a neighbor’s boyfriend later that day. Deputies have caught 15 stray dogs for testing since the attack.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office says a Westlake woman is charged with second-degree cruelty to a juvenile after a 2-year-old was severely burned. 32-year-old Melynnie Fondel claims the alleged incident happened while she was running water for the child’s bath and the toddler crawled into the tub while she briefly left the room. But authorities say the child’s burns were not consistent with accidental burns.
