The U.S. Men’s National Team clinched a spot in the knockout round of the World Cup with a 2-0 win over Australia today. Both goals for the Stars and Stripes came in the first half, including an own goal from the Socceroos. It is the first shutout for the U.S. since September of last year. The Americans were without star Christian Pulisic, who is nursing a calf injury aggravated in the team’s opening match against Paraguay. They will have one more group stage game next week.

The C-W-S Championship Series begins tomorrow between U-N-C and Oklahoma. The Tarheels came into the tournament as the fifth national seed while the Sooners snuck their way into Georgia Tech’s regional as one of the last teams to make it in. LSU baseball coach Jay Johnson says the teams have had very different paths to get here, but none of that matters now.

After losing nine players to the transfer portal already, LSU softball is finally punching back. The Tigers landed their first portal commitment in Notre Dame outfielder Mickey Winchell. The senior was a four-year starter with the Irish and hit .335 with 14 stolen bases this season. Winchell was the ACC Freshman of the Year in 2023.

LSU signee Braxton Beaty has withdrawn his name from the Major League Baseball Draft. The left-hander from Angleton, Texas will enroll at LSU for the Fall Semester. According to Perfect Game, Beaty has a fastball in the low 90s and a wipeout slider.

Running back Mark Ingram and offensive tackle Terron Armstead will be inducted into the Saints Hall of Fame as its class of 2026. Ingram ranks second in franchise history with 65-hundred rushing yards and 52 touchdowns in 10 seasons with the Saints. The three-time Pro Bowler was picked in the first round of the 2011 draft by New Orleans and says the city changed his life.

St. Landry Parish is preparing for flooding as floodwaters make their way into Avoyelles Parish Waterways and head south. Parish government is evaluating possible evacuations for areas expected to experience flooding this weekend. Areas under consideration include LA 71 east to the Atchafalaya River and from the Avoyelles Parish line south toward U.S. 190.

An East Baton Rouge Parish judge granted a temporary restraining order to block Governor Landry’s executive order to reallocate 168-million-dollars in the state’s public school funding formula to provide stipends for teachers. Greg Beuerman, the spokesman for the three plaintiffs who filed a lawsuit against the order, says it’s unconstitutional.

Louisiana came 49th in WalletHub’s ranking of the best states for working dads. The state finished 45th or worse in every metric but the male uninsured rate, in which Louisiana ranked 32nd. Analyst Chip Lupo says that number is being held down due to a large number of areas of high unemployment.

LSU signee Braxton Beaty announced he’d be pulling his name from the MLB draft and enrolling at LSU. The lefty pitcher is Perfect Game’s 222nd-ranked draft prospect and features a three-pitch mix of a 93-mile-per-hour fastball, a slider and a changeup.

The Saints announced running back Mark Ingram and offensive tackle Terron Armstead will be inducted into the Saints Hall of Fame this season. Armstead was drafted by New Orleans in the third round of the 2013 draft and stayed for nine seasons with the Saints. He was a three-time Pro Bowler with the Black and Gold and a 2018 All-Pro. Despite ending his career with three seasons in Miami, he says he’s a lifelong Saint.

Ingram was a 2011 first-round pick, and in 2022 he retired as the Saints’ leading rusher with 65-hundred yards.

UL-Lafayette signed professional Russian forward Mikhail Dulkay to its basketball roster. The 6-9 junior has spent the past several seasons with the Zenit Saint Petersburg organization, making his debut for their senior squad in the 2025-2026 season.

The Cajuns also added Loyola Marymount Transfer catcher Jose Carmona Jr. Carmona redshirted last season with the Lions and has two years of eligibility remaining. He becomes the 14th transfer addition to Matt Deggs’s squad that saw nine players depart in the portal.

LA Tech landed a commitment from defensive lineman Quade Williams. The Fort Worth, Texas native is listed at 6-1 280 pounds, and becomes the fourth commit to Sonny Cumbie’s 2027 class.

Former LSU pitcher Lloyd Peever is one of 21 members of the College Baseball Hall of Fame Class of 2026. Peever was the National Player of the Year in 1992 when he posted a 14-and-0 record with a 1.98 ERA. He becomes the fifth former Tiger in player or coach to join the Hall.

The Saints announced running back Mark Ingram and offensive tackle Terron Armstead as the 2026 inductees to the Saints Hall of Fame. The pair helped define a dominant era in Saints football. Ingram is the franchise’s second-leading rusher and Armstead cemented himself as a top NFL tackle during nine years with the black and gold. Ingram says he remembers being drafted in 2011.

The details of Cam Jordan’s contract with the Saints were released today. The deal has a base value of 7.5-million-dollars with 3.5-million available in sack incentives.

The Protect College Sports Act passed through the Senate Commerce Committee and can now head to the Senate floor. The bipartisan bill provides antitrust exemptions to the NCAA to enforce nationwide regulations on revenue sharing, N-I-L deals and the college transfer portal. Tiger Rag Editor Glenn Guilbeau says it can restore some order in the legal jungle college athletics has become.

The SEC and Big Ten remain against the bill due to its proposed pooling of media rights, which went unchanged during the markup phase.

In negotiations with the MLBPA, the MLB reportedly proposed a reformed domestic amateur draft system that would remove high school players from the draft pool and make college players eligible after their sophomore year. The proposal also shortens the draft from 20 to 12 rounds. A system like this would force the nation’s top prospects to attend school for at least two years.

The Protect College Sports Act passed in the Senate Commerce Committee after markups today and can now advance to the Senate floor. The bill provides a framework of antitrust exemptions and athlete protections to give the NCAA greater central authority and limit exploitation of NIL and the transfer portal. The Act also holds an anti-expansion provision, which was altered today to apply to all four power conferences, essentially freezing their membership.

The details for Cameron Jordan’s one-year deal with the Saints are out. The contract offers 7.5-million-dollars guaranteed with the opportunity for up to 11-million-dollars with sack incentives.

The Saints finished veteran minicamp yesterday and are out for the summer until training camp begins in late July. Quarterback Tyler Shough says he’s spent the entire offseason in New Orleans, and it will make a big difference heading into year two.

LSU centerfielder Derek Curiel earned a Gold Glove Award. The sophomore becomes the sixth Tiger to receive the honor and first since Dylan Crews in 2023. Curiel recorded a .985 fielding percentage and was a member of the All-SEC Defensive Team this season.

LSU received three commitments yesterday. Five-star edge rusher Chris Whitehead committed as the top prospect in the state of Virginia. His brother Isaiah Whitehead is a three-star offensive lineman in the class of 2028 and pledged to follow him to LSU.

Franklin Parish four-star running back Trey Martin also plans to be a Tiger. Voice of the Franklin Parish Patriots Matt Reynolds says he is all business off the field. He takes care of himself and is obsessed with getting better.

LSU added another commitment in five-star edge rusher Chris Whitehead. Whitehead is the top prospect in Virginia and ranks as high as the number four edge rusher in the country. He joins a 2027 class with another top edge in the nation, five-star KJ Green.

Whitehead’s commitment comes just hours after LSU received a verbal pledge from Franklin Parish four-star running back Trey Martin. Martin is the top running back prospect in Louisiana. Franklin Parish football coach Adrian Burnnette says he’s a special athlete.

Cut 13 (12) “…out of it.”

Lane Kiffin’s staff is red hot, adding nine commitments in less than two weeks. The Tigers have climbed all the way up to 19th in 247Sports’ recruiting class rankings after ranking 62nd just 11 days ago.

Lane Kiffin told former Tiger Tyrann Mathieu on his “In the Bayou” podcast that LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt is healthy and fully cleared for summer workouts. The Arizona State transfer missed much of last season with a nagging right foot injury.

Saints all-time sack leader Cameron Jordan is back for one final season in New Orleans. The 15-year vet signed an incentive-laden, one-year deal to likely finish his career with the team that drafted him in 2011. Jordan says GM Mickey Loomis told him he’d always have a job in New Orleans, and former teammates like Mark Ingram, Michael Thomas and Demario Davis all told him what he needed to do.

Louisiana Tech infielder Bradi Gallaway announced she’d be transferring to Texas Tech. Gallaway hit .317 with 12 doubles and 11 homers and started all 55 games as a freshman this season. She’ll join LSU softball ace Jayden Heavener in Lubbock.

Tropical Storm Arthur is expected to bring heavy rainfall to Louisiana starting tonight into tomorrow. Jeff Palermo has more.

The Department of Transportation and Development is encouraging drivers to use caution if traveling during the storm. Reduce speeds, turn on headlights and allow for extra driving time. They say avoid driving into standing water or using cruise control during inclement weather.

An Australian woman in Franklinton is facing up to five years in prison after allegedly lying about being a U.S.citizen and illegally voting in the 2022 and 2024 federal elections. Secretary of State Nancy Landry says she is one of numerous noncitizens found using the federal SAVE database. Landry says there are open investigations into other cases of illegal voting, and she expects more indictments in the near future.

LSU landed a commitment from the top running back in the state. Franklin Parish four-star Trey Martin chose LSU over offers from Florida and Ole Miss. Franklin Parish football coach Adrian Burnette says he’s quiet off the field, but he’s always around his teammates.

LSU welcomed its second transfer portal pitcher last night. Diego Velazquez went 5-and-1 with 34 strikeouts and nine walks as a freshman at USC last season. The 6-1 righty posted a 4.55 ERA in 13 appearances. He also had 18 at-bats for the Trojans, knocking three hits with one double. Velazquez joins Gonzaga Left-hander Landon Hood as the two new Tigers arms. Hood was Freshman of the Year in the West Coast Conference and a Freshman All-American.

Defensive end Cameron Jordan will be a lifelong Saint. The 15-year vet signed a deal to return for what he called one final season in New Orleans. Jordan’s 132 sacks are the most by a player in Saints history and rank 17th in the NFL all-time. Jordan explored free agency for the first time in his career, but he says it was his kids who finally convinced him to come back home.

LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt is healthy and ready to go. Lane Kiffin told former Tiger and Saint Tyrann Mathieu on his “In The Bayou” podcast that Leavitt has been fully cleared for summer workouts. The Arizona State transfer missed six games for the Sun Devils last season with a right foot injury he had surgery on in November.

The Tigers received their third running back commitment and second in as many days as Franklin Parish four-star Trey Martin announced he’d be staying in state. Martin is a top ten prospect in the state and 14th-ranked back nationwide. He joins a class with four-star Tre Segarra and three-star Brennan Lacey. LSU’s 2027 class now features 12 recruits and ranks 10th in rivals’ Industry Rankings. The Tigers have received 8 commitments in the last ten days.

LSU shortstop Kylee Edwards announced she’d be transferring after one season with the Tigers. Edwards arrived in Baton Rouge from Mississippi State this season and started all 59 games. She hit .341 with 10 homers and 40 RBIs, all the best marks in her career.

Gulf Coast Tactical announced a 6.1-million-dollar expansion to its New Iberia operation. The project will create 137 new job opportunities in the region and enhance the fabrication, assembly, systems integration and testing capabilities for advanced maritime vessels.

Six to ten inches or more of rain is possible this week for much of south and central Louisiana as a result of the approaching potential tropical cyclone one, expected to reach southwest Louisiana tomorrow night. Meteorologist Donald Jones with the National Weather Service in Lake Charles says even if this system does not develop into a tropical storm, it can produce significant flooding…

Cameron Jordan is returning for a 16th and final season as a Saint. After meeting with the front office today, Jordan signed a one-year, incentive-heavy deal with the Saints. Sideline reporter Jeff Nowak says bringing back the former All-Pro is not just ceremonial.
